i extensivley fished botany bay over the summer holidays and caught close to 70 kings in 2 weeks of the 60 odd only 7 legal fish were taken. biggest being 73cm (mind u though we did get smoked more than a few times on 50pd main and 80pd leader). fish were caught trolling, downrigging, baiting and plastics. had alot of reports from mates getting into numerous 80cm+ kings in the same session of jervis bay. so hopefully next year the big fella's move into sydney for us.

thanks slinky hopefully the fishing gods will bless me with a few more like her. they really are amazing creatures wen they are that size i couldnt believe the width of her her head it was easily over 25cm across. truely blessed to land a fish like that.

Bonnie fillets have been working wonders lately
yeh not wrong mate wen not lure fishing bonnies have been my go to bait for almost everything. from bream,flatties,jewa and kings. great oily flesh and tough skin great bait. pity they dont taste as good in our plates. lol.

Yeh mate any flatty over 70cm goes back in the drink on my boat. She was pretty buggered so I left her in my live well for 10 minutes so she could regroup. It was awesome seeing her tail kick out of my hand and then drift off back to the bottom.

Just got my new PB flathead she went 90cm as by catch for Jews. What a rush i feel priviliged to have caught such a beautiful fish. Few quick snaps and off she went again.

hey mate i can also get u onto some fish with plastics and poppers on my boat. definatley take up the offer from squidin he knows his stuff wen it comes to jews. and hes a good bloke aswell just be prepared to put in the hours to catch live bait.

mate thats a shame something like that can happen at a boat ramp by a suspected fellow fisho. dirty world if its true. hopefully who ever did pinch ur down rigger gets there own real soon.

great catch fella's truely a fish of a life time i'd give up the 30 plus smallish jews i've caught over the few months for a fish of that respect. well done again and moe u truely are a champion catch up soon ay.

as dhype said, the pesky rats taking almost anything. ive been getting em on 2inch grubs right up 2 7inch jerk shads. they are awesome fun on light gear. in the last week ive caught about 15 kings and only 1 was legal. gotta be out there 2 get em though so fingers crossed wednesday pulls up ok weather wise.

i had the great pleasure of meeting swordie at the ramp this morning but i wasnt game enough to tackle the bay with the southerly
howling out there.
some great pics there mate looks like u had a cracker day just unlucky with the jews.
how did the wind end up further up the river was it anywhere near as bad as it was at the ramp ?

New boatie stupidity stories

yep i've done the muffs aswell cooked my impellar while i was at it 2
:yahoo: lesson learnt.
after i repaired the water pump me and my older brother took the boat back down to the ramp to give a test run with the new pump and we both forgot the plugs. its surprising how much water a boat can take in in 3-4mins. 6 hours later had it back on the trailer with about about 10000 litres of water draining from it lol. again lesson learnt.
this all happened about 10 years ago with my first boat being a "wet behind the ears" 17 yr old.
