streve
First report...........dont expect too much Got the first bait in the water bout 5am at Mol Pt. Was slow with 1 PJ shark, 1 Trev, and 1 of those pointy nose ray things. Moved to Towra for a drift then outside the heads for zero. BOM had played a nice trick again and the wind was pushing 25-30kn instead of the forcasted 10-15kn that was to ease as the day progressed. Over to the oil warf for nothing. Back to Mol Pt for a couple of small slimeys and then a flatty to maybe go down in the records. YES a massive 9cm on pillchard piece......WOOOHOOO (yes you read it right.......9cm) Not happy with a boat nearby that was catching little bream and snapper. The trouble they were too small to eat so they would chop its gills and guts open and smash it in their burley bucket. I wish the tight arses would just buy some burley. Would have said something but they looked the sort that would have been happy to come over and just start throwing punches. Anyone have a number or something we can call to dob these people in..........i hate them.

James
yeah i hate it when the bom get it wrong it can ruin a day but at least you were still able to wet a line which is the main thing, and you still managed a few.
manama
Hi Pretend Fisherman, I dont like it when people take undersize fish or are abusing the system and have seen it before. You're right sometimes its best to leave it when you don't know what you are up against. I have listed the fisheries details below. I know I have called them before and they were kind enough to give me a local contact (different area to yours) but I'm sure if you contact the number/email below they will be able to assist. Fisheries Telephone +61 2 9527 8411, or 1300 550 474 (Australia only) Facsimile +61 2 9527 8576 Postal address PO Box 21, Cronulla NSW 2230 Street address 202 Nicholson Parade, Cronulla NSW 2230 Email information-advisory@dpi.nsw.gov.au Cheers manama Edited July 30, 2006 by manama
harold
You are wise to keep away from a potential fight. Best bet is to call Fisheries and give them the boat rego number, they will take care of it.
Tom Tom
Hi Guys, Went out to Botany Bay On Friday 9am, caught very little. Came back in to Pick up the wife a kids at 4pm for some afternoon action. We went oout to the first break wall, caught 2 legal Flatheads and heaps of small one's, it's nice to know they are there for another day. I decided to change bait, I put some scad on the line and then......... I was on! I fought this fish arond the entire boat with the kids cheering and the wife trying to get out of the way. Then we saw some color, the wife was claiming it was on her line!!!!! I said "no way" and proceeded to bring him in. Yes a 70cm King, the kids loved it and the wife was in shock! I had the biggest grin! Caught him on 8lb braid, a fluger reel and some light rod. That was it, hulled the achor up and went home a winner. PS: Chicken pellets in a sack cost $15 - 25kg bag, last forever.

You probably did the best thing by not saying anything, i got into a big punch up at clifton gardens once with a guy over undersize fish, Not worth the headache. Unfortunately if you call the fisheries department there isnt much they can do, its a he said she said deal, just wish they would havde more boats in the water to catch them. I havent seen a fisheries boat for at least 6 months, thats around 20 outings.
Shark Bait
It's a good thing that most people do the right thing which makes things more uncomfortable for the people that don't. I've lost count of the number of times I've agonised over fish I've caught within 1\4 of a centremetre of legal length. I figure most people are the same. starclassix
I've had my share of bullies. I was landbased fishing around Botany and ran into a bunch of idiots in a tinnie making big waves in a 4kn zone who happened to have mates on shore too. Had all my tackle kicked in the water, the missus was crappin herself and almost lost my rod too when they were trying to cast at their boat mates. In the end they thought it was a game and walked off laughing. What can you do? Just show em up with a bigger fish i guess...not worth the 'fight' Let's just hope there's more fish stocks than the people who kill off the babies... swansea_fisho
Top stuff mate got that ya got a few nice fish Some blokes just won't learn, definately isn't worth a biff over,They'll get whats coming to em. Had a bit off dramas with a few blokes fishing the Farm off swansea when the decidedy a Gannet/Bird was good Shark bait. Unfortunately for me the blokes launched at the same ramp and left a little love message on my Car and trailer, sometimes it better to avoid those situations. inked
get over yourself ilk fish not everyone is as tuff as you! IMO if you are going to front someone in a situation like this you have to be prepared to knuckle on, because you have no idea how they are going to respond. So if you are not prepared to blue, stay out of it in the first place and contact fisheries. Oh yeah, i think Impulse has the record for world's smallest flathead. I saw him land a monster on BB a few weeks back

Guest rzep
I don't think I would even call him a coward. These days if you say something to someone and they percive what you have said to be something wrong or they don't agree with then you don't know what they are capable of doing. Regards Paul. netic
Ilk fish, get a life mate. He did the right thing. I failed to mentioned in my previous post that i nearly got charged over it due to my mate breaking the guys jaw in 3 places. Fishing is something we all do because we enjoy it, punching on gets you nowhere but in a police cell, it took me till the age of 25 to learn that. Comments like yours are definately not needed here and are not in line with the friendly and helpful atmospheere that exists here. harold
Ilk, seems a bit of a hard response to a perfectly normal person who was really just telling us of his experience and his thoughts. You will find the people here are nice guys and their prime interest is in fishing, not fighting. Good luck to you Ilk. pjbink
Ilk, Did you know that a Fisheries Officer was attacked with an anchor in Botany Bay by someone fishing illegally? streve
yes thanx for your input ilk fish. Like to know where backstabbing comes from!!! Slightly coward maybe.......but i have an experience with a previous outing in a previous boat, and i can assure you my mouth is now closed when i see these people unless i know they are fishing alone and they do not have 2 other boats in the area. I have to say that when fishing licences were first made compulsory we were inspected twice in 3 months..........and nothing since. I thought our money was going towards clamping down on this behaviour. At the end of the day it is not worth risking myself, my passanger, and my boat to save those 8 or 10 small fish. But if you want to give me your number ilk fish, i am more than willing to call you should the situation arise again.

pacemode
Ilk Fish I see nothing coward in pretend fisho. He is not the law - we pay money for a governing body to patrol our waters and catch people like this. I think you need to understand that this site is to gain knowledge and speak to people on a positive level who share the same ideas. I was on another forum and I read over and over again immature slugging matches. All I ask is what for ???? Peace Lovin Mumbeens.
R_Zee
People get frustrated over seing idiots abusing what we all enjoy and live for. I personally live to fish and cant wait to get on the water every week. Seing people like that makes me sick and turns me off fishing. How is he a coward? how do u know how many people were on the other boat hero? besides, since when is heroism measured by muscles? not in the real world mate! i'd would walk away from trouble anyday. Its part of being a real man. i suggest you crawl back into the hole you came from as you are not welcome on here.
