ilk fish
Greeting all fishraiders With airfares on special, i got a trip to airlie beach for 109$ each way, which is a bargain. apparently now, its gone down to $85 each way. i will be there from the 3rd of september planning to mainly fish the shore, as apparently theres good prospects for giant trevally. if all goes well , i wouldnt mind planning another trip there, but this time i will do some research on camping in one of the many island national park camp sites. so far i know that a boat company does the regular rounds of dropping off and picking up campers at very reasonable rates. if any one has had any experience from airlie and or whitsundays it would be nice to hear from them regards ilk
landlubber
G'day Ilk, you can hire a tinny from Shute Harbour (15 mins from Airlie Beach) for the day - there is plenty of stuff on the bite...last year i was up there and went for an impromptu fish and got busted off a number of times on the 5kg handlines they give you with the boat. Next time i will bring my own gear
hooked
Was up on hamilton with some mates in may and chartered a game fishing boat called Marlin Blue. The slipper and deckie were fantastic... really knew their stuff. We caught around 8 spanish macks all around 1.5m and longer. Easily the best fishing ever. Not cheap but well worth the dosh. PM me if you want the details of the charter guys. Josh
