sk. Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 Gday Everyone Just a quick report Got out for a fish today with a couple of mates. Managed to get 2 squid only after trying half a dozen spots. Tried for yakkas at Sow N Pigs but to no avail. Trolled the first squid whole at the spit to catch a 55cm amberjack Second squid was cut in half and prodcued a 50cm amberjack. Both mates had caught a fish each and were very happy, even though I caught both the squid I trolled the other half of squid, connected up, but ended up losing the fish, prob a bit bigger then the first amberjack, due to a knot failing. Was pretty annoyed. Then we tried trolled one last strip, but couldnt hook up despite several bites. Other boat downrigging live squid also seemed to hook up, but lost a couple before shooting off. Overall great day out, just gotta find some better squid spots and fill up that tank for a more action pack day. Cheers SHaun
ophet Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 Nice one Shaun, shame you couldn't get onto some Kings. You sure are correct, get the squid and the rest is much easier. Sounds like you had a good day out with your mates anyway, which I think is the most important thing.
Guest IFishSick. Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 Good work with the squid you had mate. Even though no Kings it's good to have a change once in a while.
tomahawk1999 Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 Just wondering, Pound for pound what do you reckon go harder, Amberjacks or kings?
sk. Posted February 23, 2007 Author Posted February 23, 2007 Just wondering, Pound for pound what do you reckon go harder, Amberjacks or kings? I am a complete amateur in the category of kingfish, but I know the amberjack put up a great fight that would come close to the kingy imo.
