  1. Hi all, just wondering if anyone else will be fishing this comp? Team Aquasition will be representing SGFC. Sea temps look good for the canyons area, so lets hope the winds don't get up too much! Give us a shout on the radio if your out there. Cheer's Rod.
  2. To Dean and family, Andrew, Shane, Scott and the rest of the A/B team my deepest sympathy. So sorry to hear of Neils passing, we have lost one of fishings greatest statesmen. RIP.
  3. Commiseration's Davoo, we heard you guy's on the radio and we we're quietly hoping for you. With a fish like that their is a lot of luck involved in getting him in the boat on 24 doesn't matter how good the angler/crew and skipper work, sound's like you did all the right things; better luck next time. As you said just seeing a fish like that is something you'll never forget. Have to say though we also had a guy in another boat trolling around us as we wer'e fighting our fish, almost ran over the line a few times even though we waved him away and tried to call him off on the radio. Don't know what goes on in some peoples minds. Cheer's Rod.
  4. We fished sunday (what beautiful conditions) on the shelf east of 12 mile and hit a striped around 80kg which we pulled the hooks on after 20mins. However all was not lost as a few hours later in 150 ftms whilst surrounded by acres of little striped tuna we hit this guy. Unfortunately he came up dead so we boated him, he later weighed in at 155kg. Not a bad fish for your 1st marlin Greg!!! Cheers Rod
  5. Sorry to hear about the poor conditions you guy's endured! But then again that's fishing, makes the hot day's ever so more special!!! The sst charts suggest a bit of good water heading south so let's hope it get's here in time for the PFT. Bring on the weekend.
  6. OOP'S just found you first post with all the info.....DOH!!!!
  7. Nice fish Sea Cur well done, did you get it on a lure or bait and were you in close or out wide? Were heading up for the Pakula friendly on Thursday so any clues would be appreciated! Cheer's Rod.
  8. Congrats on an excellent bass mate. In 25 years of fishing for them I've never seen one that big, awesome catch!
  9. Hi Ross, apologies for the late notice but could you add me and ocko to the list for sunday. Looking forward to seeing everyone there. Cheer's Rod.
  10. Poor bastard!!!! We all feel for him.
  11. Dan I hope your not using the excuse that you need more squid just so you can frequent that particular SPOT!!!!
  12. Congrat's on a top day on the albies and fin. Nice mako and great footage, looked pretty hard to keep the camera still. You guy's sure are keen persevering in that sea, bet the trip home was a long one!
  13. Great report Dan, sound's like a top session. You and Greg are blessed to be able to get out mid week, can't seem to swing any mid week time off atm. Dan you keen for sat? Will call you later. Kiwi Dan, I just ended up with just the one (75cm), I gave it another hour after you left. I ended up giving my livies to Laurie, don't know how he went. I will be out sat if your around see you then. Cheer's Rod.
  14. Congrat's on a great result. Ther'e top fish!!! We heard you guy's on the radio during the day, we gave it away at 2.30 having only scored a stripie and having a beakie swim up the trail, that wouldn't look at anything. We should have stuck it out; maybe next time. Cheer's Rod.
  15. Thanx also for the update xtosea, thought the fin might be slowing down but the latest sea temp graphs shows a nice temp break just off brown's so fingers crossed for tom. Conditions are ideal, tight lines to all who are going out.
  16. Steveo, Please go back and reread the posts as you have misinterpreted what has been said.
  17. Thanx, will have to check it out.
  18. G'day Saltrix, good to see you got out on such a top day and scored a feed. You'll be happy to know that your d/rigger bomb is still alive and has accounted for many kings! cheer's Rod.
  19. Nice catch anticarp, you seem to be making a habit of scoring jews on lures! Maybe you should start saying your going for a spin for jew so you can catch some bream.
  20. Hey spikey, I don't want to get into an argument but if you get into the gamefish scene sooner or later your going to encounter weather that no one predicts and getting caught out there aint something to take lightly. Remember the Canberra comp of only a few week's ago when a boat and a life was lost. Those guy's we're experienced game fishermen who just ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time, they had all the right gear and a tragedy occurred. All I am saying is that we shouldn't encourage people to take risks especially when others have to endanger their own lives trying to effect a rescue.
  21. Firstly congrat's on getting away with and surviving going to Brown's in a boat that's definetly not designed to be 50klm's off the coast. Weather report's can't be relied upon and believe me there's no where to hide if you get caught out there in a westerly. Nz's your next option. I have fished Brown's many times in my own boat which was over 8 metres and many other bigger boats up to 17metres and punching back can be a very scary thing, the sea condition's can change very quickly with short sharp chop of a couple of metres coming at you from the west which will literally break over the top of the flybridge and dump in the cockpit. In a little boat that's not self draining you would fill up very quickly. Please don't endanger yourselves or the lives of the people who have to come to your aid if something goes wrong, or encourage others to go out in boats inappropriate for such a long run. Let's keep our sport safe. Cheer's Rod.
