RockHoppin Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Hi guys, Was wondering if anyone can recommend a good strong reliable knot for heavy line - I'm talking 80 pounds here. Will be targeting groper and not sure if some of the more conventional knots for the smaller fish around the stones will work on heavier line.... Cheers
Sammy0884 Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 (edited) The Thumb knot is renowned to be a great heavy line knot.... Personally i use a Uni knot for line up to 100lb Jinkai which is quite supple. The Nail knot is also very good for heavy line Edited February 24, 2007 by Sammy0884
squidgie Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Uni knot is all I use to connect line to any terminal tackle (hooks, swivels). And thats for light lines up to 100lb lines. With the heavy lines I have only 4 turns or so . If you are looking at leaders and doubles you will need to learn some other knots.
