Loop Knot

Recommended Posts

I've just changed the way i tie my jigheads ( after my brother told me to )

am now tying a loop or rapala knot

http://www.animatedknots.com/rapala/index....imatedknots.com

the jighead now can move around more freely and when you JIG it it seems to flick better

I'm now catching more fish and attribute it to using this knot

give it a try all you SP and gulp fishermen

if it can work for me there is hope for us all

i don't use it on my hardbodies as they have a splitring swivel thingy

I remove the rings completely and replace them with the loop knott. I might be kidding myself but i feel it makes the hb look more natural. i.e. no lip piercing! :biggrin2:

Yep same here. Top knot and no need for rings which really makes a difference with finicky bream.

i can't remember the last time i used a loop knot

it just seems so awkward to me - but then again i'm a bit fastidious when it comes to knots

the only knot i have used for leader - terminal connections is the uni knot

you can make the uni knot into a loop by tying it normally, and when you have a loop the desired size, lock the knot by pulling on the tag end. its a bit tricky to ger right but if you practice a bit you'll get the hang of it

when you lock it properly, the loop should stay there without slipping

thats what works for me, but i spose like it is with anything else, you should use what you feel most comfortable with.

i like to have a mediterranean centuri knot pulled down onto the eye by the fish so i lube the line and the loop with tuna oil as i bait up to prevent any weakness caused by friction.

the slipping of the knot onto the eye sets the hook solid

i find that way easier than retying a hook.

FYI I use a clip which I tie on to my leader which then clips to my jighead.

That way I can have all different sized jigheads to cast out until I find the right one for the conditions / day.

This = less time wasted and more time for fishing :D
