How To Attach Bobber To Fish Line?

I recently bought some bobber float, it has a vertical whole in the centre and there is a removable stick inside the hole.

Could anyone tell me how I can attach it to my fish line?

i would assume that you thread the line through the centre of the float and the "removable stick" is used as a stopper which fixes the float where-ever you want the float to sit up on your line

Actually I used the same way yesterday, but it seems that there will be a lot of line tangle around (near the top) of the hook and I did lose lot of line.

Anyway to stop that?
