  1. g'day roosterman, there are heaps of holiday houses that you can rent for a week for around $600 in most areas up and down the NSW coast so it puts it well within your 1k budget. take look at this website and get yourself into a bit of comfort mate. www.stayz.com.au cheers, kev
  2. dont worry mate, it will all be a memory in the distant past one day. I am 10 years down the track from similar circumstances, separated after 15 years, 3 kids 15, 13 and 9. looking back i had some of the best times ever, with just me and the kids over that time. As Mrs Swordie said, they do make their own choices one day, just keep being a good dad and you cant go wrong. i had some great fishing trips on my weekends as well, its cheap, memorable, and the kids cant wait for next time. one day you will wake up and everything will be sitting just right in your world and dont worry it sneaks up on you without notice, better times are just ahead. cheers, Kev
  3. Ha ha, no I didnt think that you were a stalker. I have a uncanny memory for faces and it can be annoying when you recognise faces wherever you go, so it happens to me a lot. I can get served by a service station/shop attendant etc and see his/her somewhere else two weeks later and recognise the face but not know where from, the penny drops days later when i finally sort it out in my head. I got a few flatties and a couple of bream, but spent a lot of my time in smiths lake searching for fish that werent there. I cant believe they still commercially fish that lake, still it was a nice place to spend time in my boat. Anyway, will definately PM you before the next trip, thanks again. Kev.
  4. Hi Roberta, I wish I had seen this a few weeks ago. I just came back from a couple of weeks up your way and I actually saw you on the water and then again in a tackle shop and then again at the kayak bream tourno, jeez you get around dont you? I wasn't sure where I recognised your face from so didn't spark up any conversation. I will be sure to look you up next time I head that way. Cheers, Kev.
  5. hi polyrandom, i would assume that you thread the line through the centre of the float and the "removable stick" is used as a stopper which fixes the float where-ever you want the float to sit up on your line Kev.
  6. xbox yourself blind with Rapala pro fishing excellent stuff Kev.
  7. i used to own a ute and after one landbased session i forgot to remove my burley container from the back of the ute which i had not emptied at the time because i was planning to fish at another spot but drove home instead. it was a couple of weeks later and it was summer, when an mate of a mate needed a lift and all that was available was the back of my ute. I didnt want to risk getting caught with the bloke in the back but he whinged and whinged, so I finally said yes but only if he made sure the cover was over him and that he wasnt visible (plus it was only a five minute drive to where he wanted to go) the next day (because the bloke didnt do up the cover when he got out) i smelled a horrible scent and found the container in the back with rotten fish bits, prawns etc. i ended up throwing the container as it smelled so bad, and whilst cleaning the back of the ute, i was vomiting and laughing at the same time as i remembered the look on the blokes face as he got out of the back and bolted after i dropped him off. i still laugh when i think of this to this day. Kev.
  8. why would anyone go to the trouble of packaging and transporting it anyway? but then again, i could name a few fast food joints that probably do. kev.
  9. if somebody really wants help in this type of medium, then isn't it up to them to provide the information that will benefit them, like what river, bay etc they expect information from? btw, does anyone know any good spots round my way?
  10. when i first got my boat, i spent heaps of time with my nose in a fishing mag or on the net. my girlfriend said that it was creepy how much time i devoted to fishing and called me a creepo (which = crippo) every time i added more fishing or boating into my spare time (which isnt that much) cheers Kev.

    Fish Eaters Or

I can remember being the same, always catching them and never eating any. Then one day I had a Marlin fillet with a spicy italian sauce, mate just like a piece of tender steak. Its all in the way its cooked I reckon.
  16. Hi all, Being a newbie to this site (and to fishing chat in general) I thought that this forum was about fishing and the appreciation of it, not about who owns what and how they expect people to act in their presence. Excuse my ignorance, but as a new boat owner and avid fisherman and taking into account that I don't anchor over the top of existing fishing/anchor lines, am I really expected to thoroughly research all waterways and local fisherfolk habits before I boldy try a new fishing spot?? Seriously now, surely there is enough water to go around? On a lighter note congrats for a great forum and helpful site.
