bolan
Top day Penguin, With the size of that fish, you could put waterskis on your kids and teach them how to ski aswell! (Save on fuel) I just love it when the kids get into it! Cheers, Stumpy
Boban
I can't believe I spend so much time catching squid. Much easier to peel a big prawn and let it float down me thinks. Too good fellas.

Little Hooker
thanks mate for the info penguin. Now i jus need to work out where your king spot is in the harbour. i think i know where that is You say you use 5.5kg mono line is that with the leader as well?? I was out on the bay on saturday day and usin 10lb leader and i had no hope pulling a king up was thinking it was around the 70cm and i had no hope pulling this baby up. Maybe hopping 12lb would give me that slight extra chance of gettin one up.

Mate the line I use is the Mustad Ultra Line Thor in 12lb its super strong, I not long ago went to a few tackle shops and department stores and baught all the diff types of 12lb mono I could find and over the next few days I did some experimenting with them, I found this line to work best for my style of fishing. I use it as my main line and leader and its got great knot strength as well. Its handled Kingies to 80cm if I set my drag properly. The key I find is to have a super flexible rod to act as a shock absorber also. penguin
Little Hooker
wow good work with the experimenting and thanks for that also, i might go buy a roll and see how i go. Right now im usin the penn 10x range which seems to be ok but not good enough i guess.
