robeebee Posted February 4, 2008 Share Posted February 4, 2008 Dad and I braved the weather and hit the water at 5.40 am slight wind and no chop as we rounded the breakwall headed to the end of the runway and put a pick down put out my tierra with some prawn and flicked a gulp shrimp on my 6 pound gear wouldn't you know it , a king slams my gulp and it's hang on let it take line for about 45 seconds before i thought I'd try to bring it in bad mistake turned up the drag , pump , wind , PING GONE , oh well , now I have an idea of the power of these beasts we stayed around for the next couple of hours for little nibbles before going our usual drift changed to our 4 pound gear and headed for Lady Robinsons things were pretty quiet till Dad lands a small whiting , put it back for next time after 4 hours on the water I get a strike again , this time a 36 cm whiting , my neighbour has dinner 2 casts later and i'm on again and land a 32 cm Flounder , my neighbour has 2 dinners Dad's turn again and its a small flattie , released fish caught on Gulp shrimp 2 '' in molting colour wind and rain picked up so we called it a day Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
