netic
Hey guys, well with all the YFT activity going on around Sydney i decided it was my turn for some fun.... 2 boats got together Suley's Quinny and JOhns new Trophy and we hit it straight to browns for an afternoon bash... Within 5 minutes of arriving JOhn and his crew were onto a fish and 20 minutes later he landed his first YFT.... Then our boat got a double hook up that Saw Sal land his first YFT.... For the next 2 hours it was hook up after hook up for both boats....... I got onto a real biggen with my Stella only to have the rod snap on me....I fought this fish for 40 minutes after the rod snapped to only lose an estimated 60kg YFT at the boat....(Videos down below) Me on the fish first off http://s182.photobucket.com/albums/x310/ne...nt=MOV00116.flv Me now with half a rod Please forgive any swearing in the vids... Needless to say it was a good afternoons fishing for TeamTurk and Crazyjohns crew...... The fish were weighed on scales at home and came in at 47kg for my Bro's fish, 28kg for Sal's one and 37kg for Crazyjohns Yft.

Boban
Top work on the fin. It was a good day on Friday. That has me worried. I've got the same rod. Three of them actually. I heard in the first video saying that you had 10kg of drag on the Stella. Is that right? That's a crap feeling when something goes wrong with your gear. VA911
Great haul there guys. Pitty about the broken stick there Oz and even more so the lost fish. I would hate to be the guy that ends up wearing the remainder of the rod! Edited May 31, 2008 by VA911
netic
Boban, yes we are guessing it was locked to ten kilos..........possibly a touch more...very concerning for all braid composite owners....i raved aboout them for the last year...now very concerned heres a fresh pic of johns fish straight after capture
Boban
Boban, yes we are guessing it was locked to ten kilos..........possibly a touch more...very concerning for all braid composite owners....i raved aboout them for the last year...now very concerned I know the rod is only rated to 24kg line, so that would be 8kg of drag it should handle in theory. I would have hoped it could handle 12kg at least, but I wouldn't like to be holding on to 12kg for an extended period of time even with a harness. I'll store that one in the memory for future reference. Edited May 31, 2008 by Boban
Guest Big-Banana
Funny thing is i replaced the T-curves with the braid composites.....now it looks like i may have to go back to the t-curves.... Just looking at them I knew they weren't in the same class. They look light and don't come close to the Shimanos. In saying that, the rods overloaded ten fold!
