Yft Trip Sat 30 May

Recommended Posts

Well we set out at about 7am in the morning and headed straight out to browns to try and get some blueeye, we arrived at browns only to count about 40 boats on top of the mountain.

We set up the electric reel onto the rod and did a drop to the bottom with no luck until the last drop before heading of when we got a great Alfonsinos. (see pics below).

After that we header south and setup a cube trail about 1 hour later the first bite and in came a great striped tuna so we turned him into strip baits and keep the tail happening.

then right on 4.07pm the first run and after a 15min in came a great yft of about 30kg to hit the deck.

Then about 20 min later we where on again with some smaller fish about 10 to 15kg where brought in and tagged. We had 2 guys from NSW Fisheries on board and they where keen to tag a few so that we did, we keep 4 on the day with the biggest going 30kg and rest around the 15 to 20 kg.

Here are a few pics from the day didn't get many this trip was to busy on the cubes.

cheers

craig

Great report Craig. Congratulations on a terrific catch!

Sensational photos too. The photographer obviously knows what he's doing. Very clear and great depth of field. What camera was it?

Regarding the "Alfonsinos", it looks a bit like a nannygai? Is it related?

Cheers

Peter

The Pictures where taken on a Canon D40 i think it is but cant be 100%.

The Alfonsinos are a great fish to eat and taste very very nice, very much like a Nannygai and are in the same family I believe.
