Spotted "cod-like" Fish. Any Ideas What It Is?

This was caught in 15-20m in a rocky reefy area close to the cliffs south of the Hacking.

It was part of a double hook-up with a large rock cod. We returned it as neither of us had seen one before.

Anyone know what it it is?

taste like crap unless u filet it and salt the flesh and cook congee

I wish i was havin it right now although there are better fish to make congee with that wirrah but its top 3 for sure

Thats a pretty good sized Wirrah,why not submit it for a Fishraider Record and give us an estimate of its length

Thanks Stewy and thanks for the id mrsswordfisherman, but my mate "Pick-A-Box" Syd caught it and he is not an "official" Raider. (That's because he hasn't got a computer - I have to print out Raider reports for him to read. Could Syd join Fishraider under my email address just so he can officially call himself a Raider?)

Anyway, we did measure the "Old Boot" (i.e. Wirrah) and it was a size 12 Actually, it was just under 40cm. I had no idea Wirrah grew that big. I don't think I've seen one over 20cm before.
