Question

Posted (edited)

ok, when i was up in cairns last year, i was fishing off a pier at a river, it was probably 3 metres to the water from where i took this photo, the head of this fish is at least half a metre wide n the fish was about 1.5 to 2 metres long, my guess is a cod or barramundi, not really sure, just wanted to know if anyone has any better ideas, not the best picture, but zooming in on mobile phones doesn't work well

Queensland groper

They love to hang around under wharfs and sometimes can be handfed

i think you might be right, all the pictures on the net ive seen look the same, it has to be a groper

I'd agree with QLD groper but it does have that barra element with the eyes nearly on top of its head, those gropers though are often hand fed by a lot of people when they are resident fish.
