Hi Raiders, need some info on Longtails, if you get them what do you do with them, do you fillet , cook some how, methods? strip them salt 'em and use for bait ?, or if you dont want them do they survive if returned to the briney.

Hope I can get some info from experienced Raiders..

Cheers..

G'day Ray,

Fantastic sashimi and cooked too. If you cook it, it needs to be done like Yellowfin i.e. treat it like a steak. Cook it fast and rare.

Tuna cooked the right way is one of the best fish ever... overcook it and it's dry and disgusting.

It's a genuine premium table fish mate... don't waste it as bait.

Cheers, Slinky

Make sure you bleed them. Tie a rope around their tail, give them a slit up behind their gill plate. Make sure your doing this over the side otherwise it could get a bit messy. Chill them down and as Slinky explained don't overcook.

MMMMMMMM, delicious.

Could get very messy hanging them over the side on a rope with the blood draining up in

Weipa.

The sharks are still trying to eat the longtails when you have them in the boat.

We always keep a couple for an afternoon snack when we get back to yhe boat.
