jewgaffer Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 (edited) Hi Raiders. I received the news that my back operation scheduled to take place early this morning has been rescheduled by my Neuro Surgeon due to two urgent brain operations that he has to perform in the Neuro Surgery Unit where my back operation was to take place today. As a result of the postponement of my back surgery, the hand surgeon has brought the first of my hand operations forward until tomorrow, Thursday 19th March, time to be confirmed later today. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my Fishraider friends for their good wishes for my speedy recovery for today's proposed back operation that has now been recheduled, and thank you from Shirl and myself for your encouragement and support in the forums, and for your kind words in pms and phone calls. Thanks Raiders, I am looking forward to having a much better one finger typing hand than I have now and my right hand will be operated on when my back has healed....... Cheers! jewgaffer Edited March 18, 2009 by jewgaffer

jewgaffer Posted March 17, 2009 Author Posted March 17, 2009 (edited) thats not to bad Byron hope it goes well sure your getting your back done by the Neuro Surgeon I am very sure Johnno. I can hardly walk anywhere without agonising pain at the moment. I am suffering a lot which is greatly affecting my quality of life and my pain and suffering is rubbing off on my family and also affecting my friends. I am in the hands of a fine surgeon and skilled neuro surgeon registrars and like anyone else in my position, I am hoping for the best. It seems you don't know, some Orthopaedic Surgeons still operate on backs, perform laminectomies to remove broken disc material etc and, on the mechanical side, replace hips and perform vertebral fusion etc. Whereas most Neuro surgeons, apart from being brain surgeons, are specially trained to do the delicate and complicated repair work, and nerve separation work in the actual spinal network itself. My Neuro surgeon is a brain surgeon who also operates on the nerve networks in many other areas and he is also a specialist spinal surgeon. Cheers jewgaffer Edited March 18, 2009 by jewgaffer

slinkymalinky Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 That's a bugger about the postponement Byron. Hope they don't make you wait too long. Looking forward to seeing you up and about and running marathons (or at least hopping about in comfort on boats again). Best wishes, Tony
