dragtester
Hi Raiders, have been fishing the bay for ages and lately getting nothing as usual. A couple of weeks ago managed to break the duck and landed the only legal fish of the day it went 87 cm on the fisheries measuring sticker. There was indication of a hit just a solid weight when i lifted the rod i thought i was snagged until i felt a shake and it slowly moved a bit I thought it was ray at first it did not really struggle until it was near the boat and then it went for a short sprint after a couple of minutes it was in the net and a few pics on the phone it was back over the side to hopefully live for a few more years. Cheers wayne

jenno64
Thanks Wayne, I can't wait to get out there soon and trying different depths is often the key to finding them when the water is cool! Great catch and hope they keep coming for you. Cheers, Rob
Ray R
To FR mate, nice flattie and good onya for the release, sounds like the deeper water is the go at the moment , maybe still a little while yet before they start heading for the shallow sand banks.. jewgaffer
That's a good size flathead at 87cm Dragtester...Botany Bay is holding good size flathead in the deepwater and also the landbased lure fishermen are still getting flathead wading out from the beach at the left hand side of the drive on rock platform near the Yarra Bay sailing club...I believe most have been getting their results in the late afternoon if your decide to anchor out a bit......
