Salmon_Hunter
Did you fish Bay of Islands? I was there a month ago. We bagged out on 1m Kings. Biggest went 1.12m. I got reefed by what felt like a thumping King. I am a guy of 105kg and I struggled to hold onto the rod.

luderick -angler
Been here two years now and the kings snapper and luderick are on roids! They get big here! It should be on everyones to do! If you do come try either bay of islands coromandel or Bay of Plenty then if its your cuppa hit the big o or the Ngonotaha for XOS rainbows and browns! bigcu20
we fished the bay of plenty off tauranga alot of jigging to start off with after a while tried live baiting with yakkas which were 20-30cm easily getting smashed by the kingies but from what i got told by the skipper is the bigger the better usually they use kahawai(aussie salmon)up to 3kilos gun bait as the day went by we noticed they were getting bigger and bigger and this kingy i caught which went around 20kg on sp took 20mins to pull in cos was using gear we would usually catch snapper with definately an experience fish lovers have to experience
