Frog/ Cane Toad

joel99

Question

Hey guys, found this little fella in Balmain. I'm not sure if its a Marsh frog or a small Cane toad. Would like an I.D before I release him in the backyard because I have a dog.

Spoke to NPWS and they couldn't tell me, but I sent them some pics. Apparently the younger toads are quite hard to i.d. Maybe some raiders have a better idea.

Cheers, Joel

keep it for a pet if it grows and grows its a cane toad if stays the same size I'd guess its not but I'm surprised np cant tell you alls those years at uni and they cant even tell the difference between a frog or a toad...I worked in waste disposal for many years often we'd find little frogs amongst waste usually from fruit shops so's theres a chance it could be a cane toad that hitched a ride in some produce wait and see if it grows..

This is a link to the frogs.org site

Frogs

Reckon you have an " eastern common", we see them all the time in our yard under damp stuff. Even mulch occasionally.

Has a good Cane toad pic, definitely not!!, as said, much uglier!!!
