Fish Shops

Hi All

Just a curiousity question for you all.

Do trawlers / professionals have different size limit regulations?

Often in the local Costi's (or the alike) some of the fish seem very small. I reckon i've seen bream that would have needed to be streched to reach the 20cm mark.

The pro's are allowed a bycatch limit.

I think from memory it's 10% but someone may be able to confirm this.

Also there is farmed fish like barra etc which generally are smaller.

I rarely look in the shops as I don't buy seafood but at times have seen exactly what you described with bream/snapper etc.

This is prob more an indication about the dwindling supply of our overfished waters more than anything else.

Let's hope that our children can enjoy this great sport with a chance of a take home feed if needed.

Cheers ... Steve...

if u want to see undersize fish sales go to the paddys markets ...........................................

BLOODY DISCUSTING tiny bream ... tiny snapper ... hairtail 1foot long .tiny whiting ..........

and when i say where do these small fish come from they tell me they come from victoria .

this is why i get the sh*ts when people put us under the same guise as pro fisher folk .
