  1. Was that the tiger shark that they found floating dead in the lake today ? craig
  2. Sorry i cant help BUT what i will say is stay away from Lube Mobile ........ they quoted me .. $960.00 to replace a fuel pump in my 96 commodore . the mechanic down the road put in a genuine fuel pump for $260 and that included towing the car [ 2 ks] and a battery . they are a rip off . craig
  3. mate the way i do it is i either tie off or if its heavy leader i use crimps to attach a bottom hook and with the top sliding one i just run the line through the eye of the hook and then use bait mate [ flexable thin cord sort of stuff ] and wind it around the shank about 20 times .to finnish off i do 2-1/2 hitches . it holds the top hook firmly and slides up and down with a bit of presure . hope it makes scence . craig
  4. Dont know about the rocks BUT the beach fishes well craig
  5. Hmmmm so much to say so litle time . hobie adventure ,s are a great yak , But there are more stable yaks around .The pedle mirage system is great ,BUT being mechanical it can ,does, and will break down .Hobie also have a problem with hulls cracking in and around the drive system .This is why me and many other yakkers wont buy them . now for me i would not want to hook up to fish such as what u want to chase and have the posabilaty of hull or drive failure .rare as it might be BUT it does happen . also if u look at most of the video,s on the net on targeting these fish they are on paddle yaks NOT peddle . another thing is u seem to want to chase these fish on a vessel in which u would need ALOT OF EXCPIERIENCE ON . i would recommend that u start off slow and gain some excpierience first maybe targeting the inshore palagics in ur area . hook onto a decent kigie and believe me u WILL HAVE UR HANDS FULL ...... it is not uncommon to be dragged around for 6 or more hrs when hooked on to a marlin . that is alot of ground to cover and return from .... again i say "start off small and get some excpirience" . craig
  6. or just tell them to give u another reel . THOUGH i would get on to the manufacturer first and i wouldnt be suprised if they tell u to take it back to the shop and swap it over . this happened to me on a rod . craig
  7. To many to mention . what sort of fishing u into ? bait , lures , sp,s . heaps of places around the harbour ,heaps of beaches . do a fishing report search on this site and also look at google earth . good luck craig

  12. Late afternoon.... terigal beach 12lb braid ... fishing for tailor to be used as bait for the jewie session that night..... using half pillies 1 cast .... as soon as it hit the water it took of for NZ . 10 minutes later i saw the biggest tail slap i have seen . another 10 minutes later i saw the biggest mulluway in a wave that i have seen . 20 minutes later and almost landed ......... braid snapped = lost fish . yes they are there but i think they are more prevalent at night BUT if the food is there i guess they will be as well . [ later that night i caught my 1 and only jewie of 6 kg,s ] AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH the memories craig
  13. Im sorry but what a RSOLE master of the harbour is . ive writen a reply addressiung him and the issue . i wasnt rude but it was directed at his comments that most people that fish the harbour are " by nature grubby ,are on low income , on welfare with poor self esteem and litle regard for the community . WTF... what sort of uneducated , pompus self richeous rswipe he sounds like . ide like to take him fishing ...... 2 men go fishing and only 1 returns . lololololol craig
  14. YEP GREAT ADVICE IN A NUTSHELL craig
  15. the sharks are always there and have been for years .its where they live . show me a big school of salmon that dosnt have sharks hanging around . funny how they [ the media ] wants to keep us all scaired . craig
  16. if u can fish with sp,s ,hang around the mariner as there are some nice flathead ... bream and ep,s to be had . craig
  17. im no expert but ive heard that its better to use straight through mono as well because its stiffer and floats better on the surface . craig
  18. i use a small esky [$20] and a coleman camp shower which is battery operated [$15]as a water exchanger .works for me but i have a sit on yak so i have natural drainage . craig
  19. i agree with everything said thus far it is good advice . i would also add thow that my go too sp at the moment [ for a year now] is the squidgie wriggler,s 65mm and 80mm in bloodworm .buy a packet from the pro range because u get some rub on scent called ...... i forget BUT its great....... rrrr s factor is what its called once u get some u can then buy squidgeis for about 4or 5 bucks a packet . gulps a good BUT i got turnned off spending $12 a packet and only being able to use half of them because therer twisted . craig
  20. then i reakon the wife would like the 2-4kg i bought a 3-5kg drop shot .... its nice But a bit heavy for sp bream fishing . i also have a 1-3 kg berkley dropshot and i love it bigest fish so far is a 2.2kg salmon and it handled it no worries . 1-3 kg is better for throwing out lighter jig heads like 1/32 and 1/16 ,s[ which bream love ] but also good for heavyer 2-4 kg would also be good . craig
  21. both are great rods so i guess it comes down to, what are u going to use it for ? craig
  22. Good advice and the mokens are a really nice yak ..$500 dosnt give u much option but u could get lucky . have a look also at the main onsite auction web site as u could get lucky . you will need something with enough room to take a bit of takle with u as well . i also reakon the sit on yaks are better than the sit in yaks as they are self draining and better for fishing . goodluck pm sent craig
  23. always sad to loose a fellow fisherman . condolences to his family and friends . craig
