squidgie
Hi all, Im looking around for a spinning reel to go with a 9ft composite rod for spinning off the rocks. Saw this reel which seems ok with its ratings. Anyone used one of these ? Any issues with them ? http://www.campbellsprotackle.com/store/product.asp?ID=1492 Else, looking at a stradic as well.... Bashir
I also had one on my 9ft Daiwa spin rod for rock spinning. I sold it before I used it, not really a fan of okuma and they are a heavy reel. I would personally spend the money and buy a stradic, they have an alloy body, you get a 10 year warranty, fast retrieve, lighter etc....
Rick T
support bash on this one I owned on for a little while and it was heavy and worse the line used to get caught in the chrome drag cap which caused me dramas when casting.
Jethro
They are a good reel for the money but as others have said if you have the extra $$$ go for something like a Stradic. I have the same problem as Rick with my line getting caught on the drag knob. Also had a bit of a problem with corrosion on the spool. A little bit of carnuba (sp?) was on the spool before you put your line on seems to slow it down though.
Guest Jocool
I was looking at a Stradic today! The 4000 is the biggest that comes with the 5.7:1 retrieve. Bigger ones are slower. Will that be an issue?
Bashir
Joe on the shimano website it says that the stradic 6000 has a 5.7:1 ratio.

squidgie
I checked out the stradics tonight as well...they are the way to go -and the retrieve is 5.7 to1 or around that. There is also a stradic 8000 out, with a bigger spool, but same body. Looks like thats going to be my new toy
