Blackfishing / Drummer Fishing Over Winter

Had a great Black Fishing session in the harbour last weekend.

Seems as though the beaches are holding good Drummer (and zero blackies) and the harbour is holding good Blackies (and zero drummer)

Is this usual scenario for winter fishing? I usually boat fish for snapper / kings etc, however, I took up Black Fishing as my Dad loved it and was interested in it.

Thanks for the input

Butch

Well done Butch on a great catch! A couple of those look to be magnificent specimens!!

If you haven't tried it before, check out my 'smoking' recipe in the Cooking section. So easy & so tasty. Only need to gut them!

Cheerio

I've fished the harbour for more years than I care to remember and only once have I ever caught a drummer and that was at Cremorne and only about 500gm. Blackfish definetely a winter species in the harbour and generally start back off the rocks from about September on.
