Caught in upper George's around Captain Cook Bridge

G'day guys hoping you can ID this, I've seen them schooling around a lot and I know I know the name I just cannot for the life of me remember what it's called and it's driving my mate nuts trying to find out what it is

They are also known as silver diamond fish and Mono (after their latin name). They can be netted as tiny little pitch black fish and introduced to a freshwater aquarium where they will thrive and grow fast into the silver adult colour.

Yeah same i've caught plenty of these but never really toko them and tried eating. Since you guys said they're good eating, i'll give it a go next time i catch these fellas.

Any size/bag limit for this fish?

I aways throught they were a butter fish think i got told that years ago.People saying there good to eat there all bone how do eat that, rather get a pie then atemped to eat something that small.

Don't know it's real name, but I have caught them in Port Hacking over many years, and my mates and I call them Batfish, because they look similar to Batfish from the tropical areas. Cannot find it in my fishing books.
