Couldn't ask for a better day weather was just perfect with no wind but a big rolling swell outside the heads of around 3 mtrs. Livies were hard to come by and couldn't find a patch of bait that would eat so stuck to using bait. Mol/point was dead few small snapper being caught but that's about it. Then headed near the oil wharf and same there as well. Water has dropped even more down to 17.5oC in some parts so headed outside where the water was warmer but even there was quiet :05: . Called it a day so headed home. All in all a dead day!!

Interseting to hear you say that. I was in the Bay on Sunday and we had a cracker of a day. We got 6 legal trevally (30-40cm), about 4-5 flatties (only 1 legal), 2 salmon, one bonnie and 1 taylor (35cm). Plus we dropped a few others.

Amazing what a difference a day makes.

P.S. Water was 17.9 degrees and we couldn't get any yakkas either. Everything was caught on Pillies and squid.

Headed out on the Bay Monday morning. Fished all over Bonna Point, Kurnell, off Towra and Brighton area with 14.6 degree water.

Nothing for 3 hours plus (not even a nibble) and at last caught 5 keeper flathead in 30 mins off Brighton drifting very shallow.

If you want winter flathead in the Bay thats the way to find them. The deep bits are too cold so they head up the flats. Maybe Towra is too close to the entrance to let the flats warm up but I have never done any good there late in the season.

The drift between the two bridges (and just before CC)sometimes becomes productive jigging lumps of mullet. Once again look for a slightly warmer patch and you usually find them.
