  1. Started to have the exact same feeling mate.... this wind doesn't help the cause to get out more frequently as well.... The Midday NE aster seems to creep up much earlier now RRRRRRRRR
  2. Headed out early and all quiet regarding Dolphins Fish only 1 or 2 strays around of just legal around the 65cm mark. Heap of Rat Kings running around chasing baits. Looks like a late season this year and warm water only now starting to show up around Sydney. 23.6oC BB wide.
  3. Exactly mate...they have absolutely decimated the joint.... the locals are fuming mad and I have heard from a mate who lives on Tura Beach that there has been a Berma trawler working just 100mtrs off the beach..... what is wrong with these bastards
  4. Well my Cuzz and a few mates on our normaly early run down to Eden for a weeks relaxing and fishing.....well definitely more relaxing. We got outside looking for the FAD but our luck it had gone missing the we went wide on the shelf and trolled for most of the day as the winds were calm and seas flat but all quiet. only 2 boats recored strikes and 1 managed to snare a 124kg Black Marlin on the edge of the shelf. Then the whole week was a total write off due to the strong NE winds outside blowing 20 to 30 notts and it didn't want to ease up ffs.... so it was then fishing in close but as always hard to find a legal fish plenty of undersized Flathead and well Kingfish doesn't seem to exist anymore down this neck of the woods thanks to all the long liners and the scumbag Gelong Star which was working the areas off green cape and Eden. its now 5 years in a row fishing down here and this year was the worst so its goodbye Eden don't think we will be back in a hurry. Realy not sure what they are going to do when the local fishing comp starts this week..lol
  5. Well I thought Id venture out on what was a great day I would of thought for hopefully bringing back a feed but it was just another day of undersized rubbish which seems to be following me around Started out from the Bay of empty LOL (Botany Bay) and headed out to the Fads inner and outer. Currents outside were the fastest Ive seen in a long time hardly any wind and both FADS almost under water with a 3km per hour current racing. water temp 26oC and got as far as 27.4oC outside 2nd FAD. Plenty of Dollies about but all fish no bigger than 50cm incredible. Little shy in taking anything but did manage a few to chew on small halco slices and the odd taking a skirt. Just got me buggered where the big fish are hiding Also trolled for an hour or so between the 2 FADS hopefully bring up a stripey but also to no avail. Oh well perhaps next trip out if it happens.....LOL
  6. I did see the colour of the water for the last 2 weeks preety ordinary. I don't fish the bay anymore only to catch live bait if you can find them.... nothing but rubbish and undersized fish coming from this joint. outside is the go!
  7. should head just outside the heads mate... double the size if you have the right bait
  8. Excellent work.....LOL now stick the squid on a live bait rig for a KING and hang on and you will have another to add to your list LOL. Good one mate.
  9. Hey Fishos just wondering if anyone has been getting any fin in close from Browns yet. Notice this weeks current line could be pushing some warm water not to far out off Sydney heads looking like 35kms out. Cheers Boys.
  10. Went out for a run Sunday more to give the new motor a run and decided to head to the Port Hacking FAD 22kms and back again. Never ever have I seen so much bait in a big radius of water, from 5kms out to 22kms there was just an ocean of bait balls everywhere. I trolled out a few deep divers under the schools but nothing of interest. Only the dolphins seem to be the ones having a feed. All I can say its going to be 1 heck of a Tuna season this year and when they smell that bait in the water its going to be mayhem out there. Water Temp went from 20oC 5kms to 22.1oC 22kms out. Cant wait
  11. Went out yesterday mate just to take the new motor for a run and headed out to the 22km FAD off Port Hacking and there were more bait balls then birds out there. Never seen so much bait from 5km to 22 km it was just bait everywhere. Trolled a few deep diver rapalas but nothing. Had a few bait get caught up on the lures all slimmeys. No Tuna sightings but I tell ya it will go off once they find that bait. Another month and it will be full steam ahead
  12. mother in law fish buddy...give it to the mother in law...lol sargent baker
  13. Awesome time of the year with the NE ters buzzing off and leaving some nice flat water and light winds. Headed out with the cuzz to the current line change of 26oC and it didn't take long in matter of fact first cast a cracking 85cm Dollie hook up and in the boat and from then on end it was busy. We bagged out in 3 hours with fish going from 65cm to 75cm and the only big boy of 85cm. All caught on baits jigs and slices. Tight Lines
  14. Absolute joke guys I hear ya's...have been a a few times in and outside Botany Bay and the place is an absolute joke how can you cart around several live baits and dead baits 4 rods out the back of the boat and not even a run on any bait that goes in the water travelled over 20kms of water from coogee down to jibbon and a big fat zero. Heaps of bait on the surface but nothing chasing them. Only reports im hearing is Marlin being caught outside and a few dollies appearing near the fads. Im not sure what is going on with Kingies this season they seemed to have vanished. Very frustrating when it costs you $60 of fuel every trip out and coming back with 0 Can anyone give me positive results anyone
  15. Gday Fishos anybody fished Jervis Bay of late? Love to hear some reports
  16. Damn thats a great fish.....I still to this day cant workout why we dont see anything like that around Botany Bay.....Botany Bay was such a great place for Snapper but never ever see anything worth keeping in it anymore. Looks like just have to travel abit to find the fish. Good catch.
  17. Sambos are great eating but only on the day of capture and a European wife that knows how to cook em Great report good to see some surface action comin on.
  18. Awesome catch mate..........the bay is lookin like its almost ready to produce the goods....water temp warming nicely and looks like a early season. Tight lines!!
  19. Hi Fishergirl....yeah the FADS have been removed as the season is now over and as for the water temp not sure if they would be around. Showing 21oC outside abit fresh for the dollies. Catchya.
  20. Great fish...very interesting that it took a live pike....well i suppose he may have been very hungry. Might have to throw one out next time on a balloon and try my luck.
  21. Yeah well dome stompper fish....its about freekin time there has been a sign of big legal kings in the bay. Great stuff.
  22. That sure is a cracking Bonito good signs to come if they are around that size means the bigger fish will be close by. Good job!
  23. Well the forecast for Day 4 was looking grim and so it was winds upto 35 notts from the SW so the fishing was a right off and only the keen were to go outside hoever in close was not to bad. Few of the boys decided to hit the water to maybe top Kevs 78.4kgs of Mako but that looked like a fair ask to topple that and the trophy seemed destined for NSW this year Team Viking and Team Edwin were the only ones to head in close while a few of the boys decided to hit the breakwall and try there luck for a nice Snapper but it was looking quiet there also. Squid was plentyfull in the area and a few were caught so the boys were having abit of fun topping the freezers up with bait for there next outings. It was getting late and Team edwin decided to stay out alittle longer when we got a call to get to the ramp because they had something on board with considerable size but were keeping it hush hush so all the boys rushed down to the ramp to await the arrival Well it was looking like the 78.4kgs might be coming under attack by Team Edwin and as they arrived another shark had been caught Top job Lee had hooked himself a seven gill shark and on weigh in was a touch over 27kgs The boys were happy and it was then time to get some photos and then cleaning time. It was the last laugh and definately a great close to the SFA comp for 2012....suspense to the very last minute Well it was the close to a fantastic getaway once again and the following day it was prensentation time as the weather worsened and no fishing was to be done and victory to Team Whitewash yet again with another winning weight of 78.4kg Mako caught by Kevin Micallef NSW. Cant wait to do it all again in 2013 Tight Lines!!!
  24. Well day 3 lookin like it will be a pearler however could be the last to get outside as the weather will be turning for the worst for the next few days with strong winds and big swells expecting. The boys are all fired up and raring to go and on Team Whitewashes minds was that Mako Shark sighted and then verified as Team Viking had taken some remarkable footage beneath the boat to show all of us on the night that there realy was a monster under the boat. He was a beauty alright and up early on the crack of dawn we head out from the ramp and back to our hot spot once again. Team Viking was not far behind and Team Pascoe and Team Edwin were sleeping in just alittle longer than expected but finaly made themselves to the boat ramp mid morning. Finaly after a 45 min run we pull up and start our trail to find the beast we were all looking for. The game rods were out and the big baits were on the drift out amongst the burley trail. The wind was just perfect and it was a slow drift. In the mean time we all had rods out bottom bouncing and only a few fish were coming up Leather jackets were becoming a menious as we were losing quit abit of gear in the process. Just after an hour gone the balloon which was out 100m behind the boat suddenly disappears and the Shimano Tiagra starts screaming Team Whitewash is now in alert mode but it spat the bait and its a false alarm. Within 2 minutes the predator surfaces and starts lapping the boat and also desides to head butt the yammie in the mean time. He was a beauty as we called it a Mako around the 60 to 80 kg mark. He had been with us for over an hour and had spat the bait 2 times until Terry decides to feed out a 1 and half kilo Squid in the burley trail and within a few seconds of hitting the water bingo he inhaled it and Kevs turn to bust his back bringing in the prize All systems go and he was screaming out line like there was no tomorrow. Fighting him for over an hour and 3kms away from our hookup location this guy was not giving in. Several times we him get close to the boat and he decides to give us another run thinking we might see a leap from him but it never came about. Finaly we wore him out after 90 mins of real fight Kev gets him to the boat and you just wouldnt believe our luck a pod of Dolphins and a seal decide to checkout the distress happening in the water....by this stage we were thinking the worst and it just woke him up for one last time out of the water he comes with a small leap most probally panic from the dolphins beneath we get him close again and its The fight is over high fives all round and it was a perfect catch. Team Viking was close by and they too were wraped ....Kev with his first Mako priceless. Back to the ramp for a weight and a bigs thanks to the local tackle shop wildblue for getting down there to do the honours. Offical weight 78.4kgs By this stage it looks certain the Trophy was heading to NSW this year and Kev doing a surperb job with the help of Terry wrestling the shark and Paul with the gaff bringing the beast into the boat. A fantastic encouter once again and cant wait for next year. Tight lines
  25. Well the rest of the fleet had arrived overnight and its dawn and all are ready to head out. All shooting down the the ramp Team Whitewash - Team Viking - Team Pascoe - Team Edwin - Team Davo. All going our own ways we head out and our first stop was in 80m doing several drifts hoping for some gummies Snapper and other reef species. In the mean time we have out a few shark baits hoping we might find a mako lurking the surface. Several schools of Barracoota were seen jumping out of the water like little stripe marlin would do which was an awesome sight. Even the thought that prehaps they maybe being hunted down by something big prehaps. Abundance of bait small pilchards in the water as well. Its a good sign. It didnt take long and we found some good ground producing plenty of Snapper to 35 to 45cm, big leather jackets 40 to 45cm, Flathead 35 to 45cm, Naigai 40cm, Terraki Morwong and Barracoota in the mix as well. A good 4 hour period of productive fishing. No luck in finding a shark following our burley trail until we get a call from Team Viking who was 5kms from our location who radios us to say he has a Shark of considerable size following his boat but Chris was abit worried about feeding him a bait so Terrys Face lights up and gear up and its full steam ahead to Team Vikings location so we can lure the big boy to us Well we get there and he seems to be still around but we cant sight him had baits out but an hour gone and still nothing prehaps he had better ideas and headed down deep never to be seen again. In the mean time all other teams had been doing well with Pinkies Flathead and Whiting in good numbers Well it was mid afternoon and we decided to head back in as some of the others had already packed it in. Back to the ramp for weigh in and get ready for Day 3. Terry had a 20g advantage a 1.32kg Flathead over his brother Chris a flathead at 1.30kg and Jason who was fishing with Team Davo Flathead 1.20kg Now it was game on for Day 3.
