Sp's In Japan?

Was wondering if soft plastics like the ones you guys use are available in Japan or do you just buy rods and reels in JPN.

Over here in NZ we have a VERY limited supply and just realised  that since my :wife: is going to Japan on wednesday I could get her to get me some.

Like thos ones that Swoffa recommended ...the 3" Bass Minnows in watermelon

and I guess you need jig heads.......what size ?

any assistance would be appreciated as I am a SP virgin.

If you dont recommend Japan for plastics , I will be at Bass Pro Shops Las Vegas in September so can use any info you give me there

thanks guys

I woud also suggest 3" Bass Minnows, and for your snapper go to a 4" Bass Minnow, Pearl Watermelon is my favorite colour. As for jigheads, try about a 3/8oz for the 4" in deeper water.

cheers

Clutch for snapper try to get some Ecogear/Marukyu Powershads in the 5" model & some Ecogear 3D jigheads.

I'm sure if you send Tony S a PM & ask he could help you out with info on purchasing in Japan.

Sure does thanx Beef, not sure I can entrust the :wife: to handle the complete shopping list; might keep it simple until I get to Vegas

While I'm on the subject of lures; swoffas report with Ko-i and Windy I think, they were trout fishing in some lakes now what kind of lures do you use for that?

I've never fished fresh water but we have lakes nearby for trout and thought thatr would be a good winter pursuit when I get my Kayak. Any suggestions

I get some of my SPs in japan, anything made in japan is cheaper than here (AUS) most of the american Sps are about the same there as here but are sometimes on special which is good.

If youre not going along to Japan, I'ld save up for a big effort at the Basspro at the Silverton Casino in Vegas.

Another good tip would be to get online with Basspro and get them to send you their fishing catalogues, the freshwater and the saltwater, there is a lot of overlap between the two but there is stuff in each that is not in the other. They charge you 9 USD for each, but there is hours of looking at gear in each of them and they will help you put together a shopping list and to do some comparison pricing before you get there.

The other problem with japan is that most of the guys in the tackle shops have no english so unless your wife knows exactly what you want the staff wont be able to help much if at all

Regards POGO

Yes, the shopping list is getting quite extensive :biggrin2: . I think that is good advice Pogo. I've taken onboard all the recommendations and will have a good buy in Las Vegas

Put the :wife: on the plane this a.m.

.........2 weeks on my own................. :1prop:

Anyway, here's my very basic trout box.

I on;y carry Tassies and Celtas because it's the trout thing to do, I don't use them.

The metals and bibbed lures have been the most succesful. The rapala LC in rainbow trout colour was what worked for me yesterday.

Hey Swoff,

I notice some Spanyid Maniacs there! They're my faviourite metal at the moment. I troll, jig and cast them and they've been most productive in close to the cliffs and through washes.

Hoping to "upsize" this little guy tomorrow. He took a 12g Maniac on the troll last time out:

Good to see they work in the fresh as well.

Cheers,

Thanks Mario - he was great fun!!

Hi Keenist - mate, no problems with twist on the maniacs at all. I'm using braid to a swivel then a mono leader rather than joining the leader strait to the braid.

The maniacs have a great action... :1clap::1clap:
