campr Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 Fished the ANSA 2-4-6 Competition last weekend and won biggest flathead at 4.7kg and 836mm long caught on 2 kg line. Felt a bit of a bully hauling her in on that heavy stuff as I usually fish 1kg in ANSA Comps. Started fishing at 6:30 am Saturday and caught her at 7:20am. Flatty was kept alive in 1200mm tank visible in bottom of pic and released after weighing. Lost 2 huge fish over weekend after huge runs. First was on Saturday when I let fish run with bait, but pulled bait from it without hooking up. Sunday I hooked up solid and had a screaming 50m+ run after hook-up put was fishing in big run-out and line got picked up by a big ball of weed and popped the 2kg breakaway. Runs were up high in water and faster than a flatty, so I suspect they were Kings, as I know a couple have been caught in Port last week over a meter long. Kept a couple for a feed, 63 and 56mm.
