This new Topic is great. I get hooked kayak fishing 3 years a go, thanks for Roberta. I havent buy own yet, it is so expensive in Finland. But anyway, some day i buy it.

I hope to see you in a kayak some day soon!! Keep an eye out for 2nd hand ones - they are often a better deal than getting new ones as they usually have all the 'added on bits' included in the price!!!

This is my No 1 Fishing yak - the Hobie Sport - it uses 'fins' to propel me thru the water and I have a paddle with me, in case of gear failure

For Safety, I have a 'hooter' that I blow into if I need to get someone's attention (particularly if I am in trouble.) It is LOUD

Is isn't always THIS tidy!

Ready to hit the water - I ALWAYS have a flag showing

Last week at Lake Mulwala, fishing for Murray Cod

And of course, I still have my Perception Minnow 'sit in' yak as well, for guests!

Roberta! That FLAg it is good point remember if fishing bigger waves or route where is traffick.

HI Raiders, thought i'd post a few shots of my Prowler Elite 4.5 that i've pretty well finished pimping out. Additions include a sounder, nav light, live bait pump, sealed switched battery box including with charging points, crate which attaches with fastex clips just in case of a roll, forward scotty style holder, extra rear rod holders, anchor trolley, home made rod leashes and finally some sexy decals to finish the job

Venturing up a new found creek down on Port Hacking on my Mantra Noa copy

A strip down for a clean at the end of the day and dressed for battle.

A few mods.

A tackle tray within easy reach for those quick changes of lures.

Nothing like a bubble wrap cushy for the tushy.

A storage crate mounted on 4" PVC pylons, plus some PVC tubes for the net and anything else, as well as a horizontal rod holder.

I got one same as yours but not Camo from the guys at Minto, and I`m very happy with it, Great price heaps of extra`s and very stable in the water

That's the one all right.

It might be just me, but that 20kg feels like more. I made myself a yak cart and took it out for the first time yesterday. It made light work of transferring the yak the 30 meters from the car to the shore. I'm not a big bloke, so every little trick helps.

Let us know how you go with yours. Post some pics and comments and say it loud and proud. Better still, next time you plan to launch down my way (Georges River, Port Hacking), send us a PM and maybe we can team up.

Just treated myself with a new kayak, same as the one above but in blue. Got it from a seller on gumtree that has a warehouse in Condell Park. His kayak are priced $360 but mine was $320 cuz of their color they are selling too slow, everyone prefers the other colors especially camo ones.

I took the last blue uni color, didn't mind the color.

Then got home and started rigging it with some DIY constructions.

Still waiting for the PFD, need to built the flag and camera poles and find an anchor.

I reckon the uni colours are better in some ways. They make the yak more visible from other boats. I'm happy enough with my camo, but on an overcast day, I reckon I may not be too easy to spot on, say, Port Hacking. Guess I'll have to get me a flag.

On the mod front, I've finished building an outrigger, and I'm in the process of fitting a motor mount for the Chrissy present. Can't wait till Santa comes!

Another thing for those who bought the "Sierra Angler 2013 online. These are also known as the Sunshine Angler. They come out of China, but the materials are American made. Note the inserts on the stern in the first pic. These are for mounting either a sounder transducer, a rudder, or a motor bracket. There's no backing plate on the inside of the hull for support, but I'm told that it's not needed, such is the nature of the way the inserts work. The take an M5 round head screw. Length depends on what's being mounted.

How did you mount the outriggers?

Hi Quochuy,

I haven't quite worked that out yet. I was going to use a couple of 40mm PVC saddle clamps and mount the outriggers behind the storage crate. The only problem is that I don't have enough space as the surface around the rear hatch runs out at an angle. I'd have to use much larger saddle clamps to accommodate that angle.

I suppose i could mount the outriggers towards the bow in front of my feet. Can't see why that wouldn't work....... Actually I just checked that idea out and ruled it out. Not enough flat area at the front. Anyway, the stern is where the weight will be so, that's where the outriggers will have to go.

I'll post results and pics when I've finally sussed it out.

PS. The motor arrived today but has to sit under the Xmas tree until the 25th.

What about using the two rod holders in front of the crate. Mod your outriggers to include two tubes that goes inside the rod holders and add two other tubes going out opposite way to replace the rod holders. Thats make it outriggers and rod holders 2 in 1

You've forgotten that outriggers are designed to float. What holds the PVC in the rod holders? You can't rely on just a tight fit. What I need is a saddle clamp that angles the screw flanges at 25 degrees. I know a plumber or two, so I'll ask and see if one exists.

BTW, I've edited the first post because I said the inserts were M4. That's not right. They're M5.

Sure you can't rely on the holders only but that area is flat enough to then add some sort of mount
