MannY
Hi, New to boating, thought the best way is to start with something small and cheap, just incase I break it got myself a 10ft tinny and a 3.5hp. The 3.5 I have just doesn't pull it through a fast current on a windy day. I'm in the market looking for a cheap second hand 5HP outboard or a cheap new one. Has anyone used a Vortex or Parsun outboard? how are they compared to any other branded outboard? Cheers Edited April 8, 2013 by MannY
Geoff
If you go second hand , most of the well known brand names have good reliability. Just have the seller run the motor for you & check the compression. If it starts easily & has both good & even compression it should be OK. There is normally a good selection for sale in the auctions or clasifieds. For your boat , I would be leaning towards a 10 hp motor , it's better to have more power than just enough. Also , contact Huey , he may have something available or give you a good deal on a new motor. Geoff
