Ray R
Hi Raiders, back from yet another Darwin fishing adventure, this time on a 4 day/night charter with a great bunch of friends. The fishing was primo, everyone getting their share of all kinds of finned critters. We caught tuskies, a few black jew, all sorts of trevally, golden snapper(fingermark), tricky snapper(grass emporer), small red emporer, large mouth nannygai, estuary cod, coral trout the list goes on. The weather was great and we tried out some new spots not yet tried by our skipper, some of the spots went off the scale with one in particular holding trevally which really gave us a workout. The regular marks were also healthy with fish and the big goldies came out to play on one memorable afternoon, everyone was on to these hard pulling beauties. The charter its self was top notch with great food, my pick was the seafood night where we had beautiful oysters, big prawns and fish cocktails along side restaurant quality salad and dressings. The gear we used was all good and some of us took up a few lighter outfits and had some plastic sessions, heaps of fun but trying to stop some fish was almost impossible, however we did land some nice coral trout and goldies on plastics. I won't bore you all with anymore talk, I'll just let the pics do the talking. (click on the pic to see the larger version) All I can say is 'get up there' ...... bassboy888
Well done ray! What looks to have been an amazing trip! I'm sure you would have been sore and battered after hauling in some of those beasts, only to be rewarded with the sea food feed one of the nights. Keflapod
What, no bream, whiting or blackfish ? Crikey it can't be THAT good now can it ? Well done Ray. That's an awesome trip you just did. I bet you cried when you would in your last cast and I wouldn't blame you one bit. All those fish, the hassling eachother about they way they fight fish, the bragging and the photos, the storytelling about how you landed each fish and the story of the one(s) that got away. These are the memories we make that give us that warm'n'fuzzy feeling, just before the goosebump waves wash over our body. We recall those good times on cold winter days as we stare into the windswept sky, just reflecting on those days gone by..... ..or is that just me... Ray R
Okay so another story on the charter was an epic battle with a giant shovel nose shark, took nearly an hour to land the beast and with the help of 6 of us we managed to get him on deck, remove the hook, grab a few shots and release him back. This was just another memorable moment from the trip. He was about 7-8 feet long, biggest shovel I have ever seen..
