hookerbruce
Trip 1 Went out in the port on thurs for a social/picnic day with wife and our friends. I went at 7am so I could have a fish. Started out fishing deeper water came up with a rat king and a legal snapper on frozen squid. Then went up to mainbar and pumped some nippers, fished the flats for a while for one legal bream but no whiting. Back to the ramp to pick up the picnickers. Went to the sand spit at mainbar for a swim. Naturally had a fish. A nice flounder and a blue swimmer crab. Next stop was Jibbon beach for lunch and another swim. And a fish which resulted in a 35cm bream. Trip 2 sat A 7am start from grays point ramp went and fished the deeper water again, this time a squid and 2 amberjacks (45cm), then on to the flats pumped nippers then fished for whiting. No whiting but a 35cm bream and 3 good blue swimmers. There were a lot of whiting on a couple of flats but they were playing mummies and daddies and not interested in a live nipper in front of they're nose. Next trip will be on tues fish the deeper water then the flats and try to catch some of Yowie's whiting. bruce
Yowie
You managed a few fish and crabs, so that was a bit of good work. As for the whiting, if you can see them, they can see you and usually will not bite.
