Benzeenees
Has anyone opened one? I am considering opening up my HDS5 to see if there is any internal water damage. The beeps, including alarms, have stopped working. But I'm not sure what type of screws hold the back on. And are there any special precations concerning the water seal or anything else? Bash.G
Did you check your settings mate? Make sure you have the sounds on and not off! I wouldn't even dare opening my HDS.
GaryO
I also think they may be filled with an inert gas to keep them pressured and water proof.
tasksta
No magic seals or gas. If it is out of warranty go for it. I took a punt on an HDS7 i bought online for $200. Failed after a few weeks so took it apart and it was literally FULL of water lol. Drained it out and let it dry in a low oven overnight. Back together and all good. Spoken to Lowrance since and they say 99% of issues are due to water ingress, mainly through lack of caps on unused terminals. Exactly what mine was missing.
