antonywardle Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 (edited) Nearly due for some more tyres for the prado. Anyone on the list got one? I'm currently running 235 BFG AT and they've been good Only thing is that because they aren't the standard tyres the speedo is out, but they give me a bit more clearance. So I can stick with them and get two new ones, or maybe three. The spare and the one are pretty good condidtion Otherwise I got back to the standard 215/80R16 or the 265/70R16's which fixes my speedo, but will mean I need four tyres. Don't do much offroad anymore. I do a bit of towing and I've had to start driving to work again so thats a heap of H/W kms now. My Prado is a 2000 TDi and its done 400K I bought it on 210K and this is my second set of tyres so about 180K on two sets is ok I think Edited June 20, 2014 by antonywardle
Guest hawkesbass Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 I would go back to standard size and replace all four always a good safe practice to replace all the tyres at the same time in my opinion
Guest hawkesbass Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Coopers are a good brand and are long lasting tyres from experience
Fab1 Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 I would go back to standard size and replace all four always a good safe practice to replace all the tyres at the same time in my opinionI agree with changing out all four.At the very least buy 2 the same brand and type as your existing 2 and put them on the front. All the name brand manufactures have very good tyres to choose from and from what you described I,d go a A/T in your original size. Im running maxxis 751, s on my hilux with mainly highway use and very little of road with 80, 000k on them. You can see in the pic the meat still on them. The key to maximising your tyre lifespan on any car is: Weekly tyre pressure checks Rotation every 10, 000km Alignment/balance every 6mths. Replace worn steering/suspension components. Too many people ignore 1 or all these things then wonder why there tyres don,t last. Good luck with it. Sent from my GT-I8730T using Tapatalk
antonywardle Posted June 25, 2014 Author Posted June 25, 2014 I'm going back to where I bought my last set details: BFG AT Bought 2006 speedo 294K Replacing 2014 speedo 400K so eight years and 105K pretty good I think
Day's Fishin Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Cooper tyres are good but the warranty is crap. Unless you take your vehicle back and have a wheel alignment every so many k's there is no warranty. Jeff
antonywardle Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 Went with Pirelli ATR's They are a bit wider than my last ones, but the speedo is a bit more accurate now. GPS says 113 and the speedo says 110
