Cooks River redmption: pb trev!

G'day raiders! So after providing a pretty dismal guide service to adamski on Saturday around the cooks I had.to squeeze a session in on Sunday arvo. Had an hour before the gf would get home and ask about the housework so off to the river!

Unlike Saturday it was blowing a gale..and my hopes of light bream fishing pretty much faded with wind against, with, across and whatever else the tide.

Chucked a 1/12 on with my little zman grub which is a bit heavier than I like, and just as I was walking back to the car flicked it out for that faithful "one last cast". Well couldn't really feel the lure but got a tap and struck up hard...onto something g that proceeded to head 50m solidly towards the far bridge pylons! Was astonished by the strength and pull and on 4lb string and a 1-3kg rod it was a hell of a fight from the start! This thing had me running up and down the muddy bank losing my footing and gashing my finger on an oyster (chucked it straight into pure alcohol at home...the cooks mud has a life of its own). Eventually saw colour and knew what I had, but it got its big broad flank into the current and wouldn't give me ground for minutes! Eventually stylelessly got him on the bank! 49cm of trev. Gorgeous fish and they just fight so bloody hard. Pb for me and just makes me love my dirty local river more.

Loving daylight savings so hopefully more sessions this week!

Cheers guys.

It looks like he likes you, I swear he's smiling.

Great fish, to bad his mates didn't cooperate on Saturday.

You have to scrub that wound out . Sure you know.

Similar thing happened to me on parramatta, small fragments left behind.

Ultrasound, referral, to RPA , 5 min consult with a specialist, $250 ...inoperable.

If it still hurts when it heals ,keep rubbing it, any fragment may make their way to the surface.

Might get you out of housework for a while.

Fantastic job again man! And hey- don't be so hard on yourself- you were a great guide on Saturday, came picked me up, gave me a loan of your outfit, showed me loads of good spots on the Cooks and gave me a load of tips too, as well as catching 4 fish (including a nice little bream). ;) Really I owe you a few more Old Speckled Hens.

Hope the hand recovers quickly!

Good job bro... And letting it swim away too, Top Job!

About your finger... i think its a lost cause... Nothing short of napalm would help sterilise the cooks poison out!

Great stuff Witha and congratulations on the PB..

That's a brute of fish alright and they pack so much punch for their size.

Well done mate and keep up the top work.

Sorry to hear about the finger, hope it heals up nicely.

All the best

Ian

A very nice fish there, the stubborn bastards don't give up.

Thanks mate definitely dig their heels in!

Congrats on the PB. Trevally are my favourite sports fish in the bay and fight harder than any fish I know except for the mighty kingfish of course. You must have had great fun!

It was an excellent fight, they just don't stop haha

Awesome fish and congrats on the new PB.

I too hold my PB trev from the mighty cooks. They are steam trains with fins.

The mighty cooks :) had quite a few trevs in there always keeps me entertained!

Great PB witha those revs fight telly well at that size

Hopefully we will get some good fish together this week

Cheers sydneyfisher12

The isopropyl alcohol definitely felt it haha. fishing the cooks you battle the river and the fish :P

Well done Witha,

Good idea to try and clean up the Oyster cut... a bit of painful scrub with alcohol is a good idea.

Cheers

Yup kill it quick if it doesn't sting it's probably not working
