Hundgie
Lexan is Polycarbonate...thats just the brand...The polycarb will be the strongest but has poor chemical resistance, so be carefull what you wash down with.
Basil D
I've been told to use Acrylic. Can anyone tell me why ?
valkie
Poly carbonates are very suseptable to UV radiation. Its imperative to mout the screen facing the correct way or the UV will send it milky is a short space of time. poly is also quite soft and scratches easily, just the act of wiping the window down will scratch it and if there is any residual salt it will scratch like there is no tomorrow. The acrylic is harder and (unfortunately) more brittle, it will crack and break easier than the Poly, but is superior for looking out of. So The question is do you want to be able to see out of the window, or is it just a wind break? If you need to see through it, go Acrylic If its a windbreak, go Poly Hope this is of some help.
