Watch fishing on TV or rug up and have ago.

Hi guys, new to this forum so here goes.

Managed to get all my jobs/chores out the way yesterday and was about to settle in to watch another Sunday afternoon of TV. Flicking from fishing shows to the league, all the fishing shows looked to be repeats and the game did not include anyone I was overly interested in. So it was off with the goggle box and out with some squid gear.

The weather was overcast but still. Left Como about 4.00pm heading for Bundeena through the national park, no sooner hit the Audley causeway and the heavens opened. Thought about turning round a couple of time as the rain persisted all the way to Bundeena.

As I entered the township the rain stopped and my enthusiasm began to grow. Hit the wharf an hour before the last of the light disappeared, which coincided with low tide.

The wharf was empty, which is a plus as most times it can be pretty full on. Wasn't expecting to much as the water was a bit cloudy and there was no one else around. On my third cast I was in, a nice arrow squid of about 230mm in hood length. Enthusiasm grew even more. A few more casts and another conference builder hit the wharf. A couple of fellow fisho's had now turned up hoping to bag a couple of big green eyes. As they had been there over the last couple of days with varying degrees of success. Darkness had now descend upon us and everybody went about trying to bag a squid. All went quite for an hour or so, then I changed jigs and I was in again. Had a bit of a pattern go as I was starting to catch two squid in quick succession every time I changed jigs. Didn't matter what colour, size, or price tag, if anything the cheap $3.00 ones did most of the damage. Not wanting to blow my own horn but I was also the only one catching them with any frequent consistency. Starting to get pretty cold around 9.30 and the old knees aren't what they used to be with the cold coming up through the concrete. The squid had definitely gone off the bite by this time.

Managed to catch fifteenth arrow squid, threw back six and kept the other nine averaging about 220mm in hood length.

(Would add a picture if I knew how) lol.

All in all a good afternoon was had, and proved to myself I should get out more rather than watching fishing on TV and wishing.

Cheers fellow fisho's

Good stuff mate, I fish bundeena wharf fairly regularly but that sounds like one of the better nights there!

Normally I have only caught green eyes there until my last session where I picked up only arrows. Maybe they are moving through there at the moment??

Yeah, I've only ever caught one other arrow from there and that was about five weeks ago. Mind you it was the only thing I caught that day.

Can't complain with the arrows, tasted just as good. Salt pepper bit of chilli, oh yeah.

Cheers guys, thanks for the encouragement.
