Krispy !
on your standard paternoster, hooks were 1 or 1/0, pilchards and fresh cuttlefish for bait
NaClH2OK9
Had them on most baits. 2 hook paternoster 3/0 circles. All mine generally over 70m reef
Overdraft
I've caught them with 6/0s believe it or not. But they were by catch when targeting snapper. If I was targeting them is be using a 1/0 or 2/0 long shank as they have decent teeth.
finin
Generally caught over reef from 40M and above. Bait:pilly, squid, prawn and can be caught on soft plastics. Not much fight to them. I use 2 hook twisted dropper 2/0 circles. Last time I cooked one I stuffed it up. Think they have to be steamed? Piggies

bookwa
I've caught heaps of these suckers out from Yamba/Evans Head. Bring a fortune at the markets--a pro there said he gets 40$kilo for the big ones. Steaming is ok but filleting and grilling is the best--better than lobster!!! Don't pan fry--turns out very ordinary

cheap charlie
I have been throwing these things back for years when chasing Snapper & Mowies. Looks like the next one I catch is going on the plate http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0006/375882/Eastern-pigfish.pdf
hookerbruce
Been catching these for for over 50 years. they are one of my favourite offshore reef fish, on par with long fin perch and just ahead of chinaman jackets. I lightly pan fry in butter and they are fantastic, but don't overcook. bruce
