fredflathead Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 That current in the channel when the tide is going can be severe, they would swept out very quickly. This why Huy and Marvin were calling out to each other. I hope they are found and everything is OK.
lammo Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 I was there on monday night at around 10pm , was around 20 people in the channel and lots of kids, didn't know that place was so dangerous. Scary!
fredflathead Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 I was told by a trout fisherman down the Snowy to wear a belt so if you fall you have a chance they, fill up with water and that's he problem

Koalaboi Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 (edited) Very sad and not the first time. Living at Toowoon Bay I worry when I hear the helicopters hanging around in the morning and so it has been the last couple of days. It happened before a couple of years ago that a man was lost whilst prawning. His body was found a couple of days later about 7 or 8 km north along the beach. Apparently the lifeguards patrolling the run out have had a very busy season this summer with rescues. You have to wonder why people swim in the channel when the current running out to sea is obviously very strong. With the flood in the lake as well as the outgoing tide, the current is really moving, especially in the last 200m or so between the boat ramp and the sea where the channel narrows. Life jackets may be a good idea. KB Edited January 21, 2016 by Koalaboi
Camo1808 Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Bodies have been confirmed. Very sad for everyone who is touched by this. Rip gentlemen Sent from my SM-G920I using Tapatalk
stevefish Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 They should have chosen to wear better equipment and educated themselves about the area and risks involved. Sad loss of life
shakey55 Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 So very sad. Some say life jackets are cumbersome, but they save lives. REST IN PEACE FELLAS Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
