Hi Everyone, My name is Alex, I have just got back into fishing about a year ago,  I used to do a lot of Trout fishing and Salterwater fishing when I was young.  I just bought my first boat a 17.2ft older style half cab pongrass, I have just kitted it out for open water and rods etc for big game.  I am going down for a fish at Batemans tomorrow to try and get a few Snapper.  Anyone help me with some good ideas??  Near toll gates or wasp Island??

G'day Alex,

Congrats on the new boat hope it goes well for you.  Just to let you know that the sea if pretty horrible today, after the gale we had yesterday, currently the wind is light.  Depending on which site you look at the forecast for tomorrow is all over the place.  It's currently blowing 30 knts sw off Green Cape and if that gets here tonight, tomorrow could be pretty ordinary.  Good luck and hope it turns out all right for you.  Cheers...

Dave

Hi Alex Welcome to the site, you will get plenty of useful information here. Is your boat the Pongrass Waverider ? if so I have the same boat, they are a great ocean going vessel. I can't offer any first hand info of the bay just be aware and follow all the rules and if you go out a bit from the islands you may need to buy an epirb, it's very hard to tell the difference between 2.9 miles and 3 miles when you are out in the briney, make sure you have all the required items and keep a sharp eye out on the weather, check into coast guard and log out when you return.

Let us know how you go .

Hi mate and welcome to the forums.  Good on you for getting back into fishing.  Just be aware that there are zoned no fishing areas in the batemans bay areas, last thing you want is to get fined for fishing in the wrong areas.  The tackle shops down there can give you maps of where you cant fish.

Thanks Frank,  yes mine is the Waverider, I have a 60 on the back, I bought all of the equipment for Full open water, UHF, Epirb, Vsheet etc. We went out, I had my 7 year old daughter with me and also my dad, he loves fishing, was too windy for her so we went a little way down the Clyde and got some nice Garfish and Bream.

Thanks heaps, yes I have done a lot of research and have downloaded all of the maps with co-ordinates,  Bought a good GPS fish finder so I can make sure that I don't do that.
