Aardvarking
Beachworms work an absolute wonder for beach fishing. You can buy them from some bait stores, or catch them yourself if you're patient. I've also had success with pilchards.

bluefin
TOP Bait, Well there are two.... Beach Worm and Pilchard. Beach Worm Is Great on Salmon Bream Whiting Dart Etc. Pilchard on a 4 hook rig, or a fillet on a single hook for Taylor Bream Flathead. There are many more GOOD baits. But these are My two Best off the BEACH. Howard. Mullatt
Think everyone has a "best" bait, certainly some may work better than others, but that can also change on a given day in almost a blink of an eye. As others have said ....Pilchards & worms will generally do the trick, pipis, prawns, flesh baits (though flesh baits can attract pickers). Guess my favourite over many many years is Pilchards. Reckon after much trial and error over a long period, you will develop a "best" bait of your own preference too. Good luck and enjoy

TangerinelandbasedmachinE
If you can find bait where you are fishing and it is something the fish can’t normally get. Example if the is kungee about and you can saw it open the fish go ballistic. Or if you can find beach where there is pippies you literally do the pippie shake and find the pippies with you feet while you wait for the next strike. Otherwise pilchard and worms are the staple.
