Rust on inside my guides

Hey guys so recently I lent a rod to a friend and he didn't wash it down as well as I thought he would have so now I'm stuck with rust behind the clear coat where the guides meet the rod it's self, I've been trying to my research but I can't find anything specifically for this situation, I would like to clean it myself some how but I don't know how to penetrate underneath the clear coat, I'm trying to avoid paying to get them stripped back and cleaned and put back together, has anyone else had this problem? I'm not happy about it at all! I'll post a couple of pics! Any help would be appreciated very much!

Im not sure if this would of happened in a trip

it looks as tho the monster mesh is also underbound also. So cleaning wouldnt do anything. I would leave it. But you are anal about it. Then strip it off and rebound it

sadly rebind and new guides is only proper fix..rick

Hey mate. I doubt it was caused from 1 time lending your rod to a friend. It kind of happens over time. 

Yours doesn’t look that bad. I wouldn’t worry about it. I have a few rods that have been like that for 10 years plus.

I agree with Hateanchors if the eyelets are in good nick no problem

Ok cheers guys I thought that would be the case, the guides are in good nick just the rust! 

It wasn't one Trip he had it for a couple months all good tho I'll just leave it for now!

Don’t get salt water on it. Rinse rods after use. 

The pictured rust isn’t that bad. I’ve used rods that look like that for years. I say just use it and enjoy it for however long it lasts. Nothing last forever.
