T.R
Heading to Narrabeen Beach next Friday for a bit of surf fishing late afternoon through out the night hopefully, I’ve fished the lagoon quite a bit and hooked into a lot of fish. Just wondering if anyone has fished the beach lately and struck gold!! Any raiders with any info will be appreciated. My guess is I’ll get the same species that I get in the lagoon is there any other species I should target?? Other than your bread and butter species. Thanks raiders tight lines out there. sam bros
Your most likely going to catch bread and butter, like whiting and bream. If you get a tailor, throw a fillet on some big hooks, you might get a jew. Let us know how you go
T.R
Thanks Sam bros I’ll definately take that into consideration. No worries if I hook into some good fish I’ll take a few snaps and post them for you mate.
Omally
Narrabeen is my favourite whiting beach caught some monster elbow slappers that I've mistaken for salmon lol ummm they real close to like 5 10 metres out.. No special gear needed except beachworms or blood worms and that's off the beach in the wash Edited January 29, 2018 by Omally
T.R
Omally thanks mate, I’ve been fishing the lagoon a lot and getting some 40cm+ whiting taking live worms so I’m hoping the surf will be produce bigger specimens. Hoping to hook into some monster flathead and some good sized bream.
T.R
Sam bros had an awesome time out on the water but as expected picked up your regular bread and butter species not luck on a Jewie though lol. Gotta few whiting with a monster 43cm and a lot of bream released majority of my catches just took enough for a feed.
FranticD
Guys when fishing the beach for whiting... i find that im just using a 7" Rod.. smallish star sinker. I find that the waves just move my rig around quiet a bit. Any pointers as to how to best fish from the beach where there are decent waves around? Should I be using heavier gear or going at a specific tide? Im using a Long shank hook with a beach worm i caught earlier in the morning.
Short
Either pick a spot with less wave energy where you wont get your gear washed around so much, or stay mobile and walk along the beach in the direction the waves/current is taking you.

A longer rod (12ft) will help by altering the angle of the line in the water and the subsequent drag from the waves. It may help to also have a heavier star sinker, although sometimes (if the beach isn't busy) it doesn't hurt to have the bait move around a little... obviously fish the gutters for the best results. Good luck, bn

I was running a 12ft rod with a size 3 Star sinker running a paternoster rig. The height of the rod kept the line from being washed by the waves. Good luck out there. Tight lines!!!
