99FishingWorld Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 HI all. ive recently purchased a boat and have been catching flathead and ur basic species.. Im looking to go to the peak this sunday to drop some livies... has anyone been there recently? Is long reef better for kings these days? just want some information before i waste my time out there peace
noelm Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 Fishing is never a waste of time if you learn something, just give it a try, or see if there's any fish closer in. Someone has to be person that finds out if there's fish on the bite. 1
slowjigger Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 (edited) Kingies can run hot and cold. There can also be a lot of boat traffic on a Sunday at the Peak which can put them off the bite. A lot of boats try the Peak first then go on to the 12 mile if things are quiet. I have heard some good reports from the 12 mile recently - though you need a decent sized boat to fish there safely. I would recommend taking some jigging gear and/ or fresh squid as well in case you can't catch live bait or to give them an alternate offering. Edited September 16, 2022 by slowjigger
Larkin Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Hey tarik, I was there a few weeks back - most people were jigging. Not much action that day, but all spots can be like that at times. Still worth getting out and having a go. Post a report of the outcome if you go
