just a tip about dollies, you're less likely to catch them after 9 AM. It would've been better to head to the FAD first, then to Browns. Last weekend's current was very slow, not ideal for dollies because they feed harder when the current is stronger, but you can still catch them (we did for bait lol). Wait for that new moon phase, they should be on fire this weekend and next weekend

It's a 5.75 Stacer OceanRunner - 130 2 Stroke Yamaha. I probably spent around 90 litres of fuel that day but I was also driving 20-28 knots most of the time. I put the large fish in my kill bag (too big for esky) after gutting it and stuffing it with ice and putting the roe/liver in ziplock bags. I scaled the fish when i got home and filleted her up. Wasn't really slimy! The rest of the fish was just in an ice slurry in the esky.

MY sounder completely shits itself whenever I visit Browns so I cant see anything. Did you only use squid? We used three hooks - 1 bonito strip, 1 squid, 1 Mahi Mahi fillet. We got hits on all three. At first we caught nothing then we moved spots towards the center of Browns, where all the boats were, we started hooking up instantly. bite died off around 1 and all the boats had left around then anyway.

I didn't wind it manually but I had to take the rod out of the rod holder and lift the rod up and down, a little trick I learned off Ultimate Fishing...

Tarik checking in... how good was the long weekends weather???? Soo many people were out. A moment of silence for those who had to spend it camping or something else… After spending 8 hours replacing both of my boats windscreens the previous day alone, the boat was fueled up and ready to go for Saturday. We started off with no bait or burley, so catching livebait was not easy. We had to ask other boats for some pillies. We caught a few enough for some mahi mahi. Headed off to some fish traps off Sydney and caught a few mahi but due to a slow current there wasn’t many interested. So decided to head to browns mountain to deep drop as slow current is perfect for this. we used squid, bonito and mani mahi which landed us two blue eye in the first few drops. They got bigger as we kept dropping, with the third blue eye measuring 1 meter and around 25KG. They couldn’t resist the mahi mahi strip baits. This beast was brought up 30m off the bottom then my Tanacom 1000 started to struggle and no line was being brought up anymore. I left the reel in retrieve mode but I had to hold my rod and pump the rod to help retrieve the line. 450m later and it surfaces, bubbles everywhere, all of us screaming had no clue what we were expecting but we knew it was something big… I’m wondering if it was the biggest caught that day.. surely not? you can still lay the PLY in there like that. Definitely do that as Im not sure how anyone can walk around in a boat like that

Unfortunately theres not many marine specialists out these ways, they all seem to be out west for some reason. It would probably be quicker and cheaper to DIY - I learned to service my own motor myself. Literally everything with my boat and trailer i've learned from YT. Remember you only need to learn it once, then you can do it on your own forever! Sorry to hear about your boat, I also live in the east it's a pain in the A parking around here but atleast we get easy access to Rose Bay ramp so i'm not too fussed. Im not sure on the size of your boat but having the wheels and hitch locked should make it harder to move. I once had a guy burn my boat cover, thankfully the the material doesnt catch on fire and kind of just melts like plastic, he used a lighter and burnt most of the straps off that attach to the cover. Funny thing I heard the guy admit to it while on the phone while I was inside the boat working on it. Very overweight miserable looking person. As soon as I popped my head out he DASHED off.

Saturday the 9th! Sure would be worth going out wide i'm sure you'll find bigger schools from the 24-28C range

Thanks mate, I use a Go Pro Hero 11, and render my videos in 4K 120 Fps. I also have a drone but did not use it on that day. Sometimes landing those things can be a nightmare out there. Yes I hope they get bigger. Last year in April they were much bigger at just the Sydney Fads..

Went for a trip over the weekend to the private fads off from Sydney harbour. I have been avoiding the public fads because of the divers that are usually there and the high number of boaters that congregate around them. we caught livies around middle head, which have also been super small, but I don’t mind this. We caught around 25 between the three of us. Only issue was that majority of the dollies around right now seem to be quite small, most being 60-65 cm compared to February where we were averaging 75-90 cm fish. At least they fit into the esky easily… the hot bite died off around 8:30 AM but we switched private fads and kept on catching till about 12 pm. They were not taking dead baits after 9 AM but were still taking trolled lures, poppers. Water temp was 27.3 degrees, the warmest I have ever seen it.. there were hundreds of them everywhere. Even when we drifted far away from the fads we still found massive schools that seemed to follow the boat. Really interesting how many there are when you’re out wide. That's what made this trip so special! Couldn't go out for two weeks because of the rubbish conditions but Monday Morning was bliss, no wind at all, but a strong current pushing us atleast 2 knots Thanks mate serious trip for serious fishos

Well split between three, and after sharing some fish with friends, I managed to vacuum seal the extras and should be good in the fridge for 1-2 weeks! Believe it or not fish can be vaccum sealed in the fridge for weeks and still have no smell lol

Hello all I never do my reports here but I do browse often. Hit the FADs and the Mahi Mahi were out to play yesterday. Launched from Foreshore around 5:45 AM had livebait in the tank by 6:20 AM, loaded with about 40 slimies and yakkas. Lots of big baits too. I found it interesting how some one was catching livies off their boat while docked at the ramp lol anyways reached FADs by 6:50 AM and it started off slow but it got super hot around 7:30-10:30 AM to which the bite died off. We had run out of our live bait anyway but used butterflied baits towards the end which seemed to hook us up to the larger cows and bulls. last time i was there i caught nothing but small flathead.. and it was just sand.. very interesting
