Can someone tell me how do you get badges and what are they for

Which badges are you referring to? 
In your signature you can receive a badge for submitting a fish that is a record on our fishraider list.

There are also Gold Member and Mentor badges. 

You can also receive special ones for a helpful or super post.
 

I give all these out. if anyone thinks they should have one or wants to recommend another person or their post please message me anytime.
