HawkesburyParadise Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 Seems like it maybe an extremely hot and potentially fiery summer this year. How does the smoke and ash in the air affect the fishing or water in general? I wasn't fishing in 2019 so I am not sure what impact it had on the fishing.
noelm Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 Minimal affect if any at all! unless of course there is lots of ash, might make some shallow spots a bit dirty maybe. 1 1
Green Hornet Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 Its not so much ash and smoke in the air that affects fishing, but when it rains afterwards, the ash and other debris that gets washed into fresh and upper tidal creeks/rivers can cause these environments to be starved of oxygen causing fish kills or forcing them to move into less affected areas. As @noelm said above, other areas won’t change much, if at all. 1 1
Hoods Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 The biggest impact was the lack of water in the systems. The mid north coast had low flows or none in the smaller systems which had the greatest impact. And river flows are already low and the country dry (2019?? - hope Not) 1
