intensehotdog Posted November 2, 2023 Posted November 2, 2023 (edited) Hi all, still kind of new to boating. Want to go out tomorrow to east of syd harbour bridge and try out my downrigger. Definitely going to rain, but wind and swell pretty tame. Is it not advisable to go out boating in the rain? Ill start off chasing live yakkas, and downrig around south head and maybe even longreef. intensehotdog Posted November 2, 2023 Author Posted November 2, 2023 Also - where has been a good yakka spot? Balmoral and middle head is where I might try
JustJames Posted November 2, 2023 Posted November 2, 2023 Rain is not an issue. Keep your speed appropriate to visibility though. The good thing about boating in the rain is that the boat ramp will be quiet.
noelm Posted November 3, 2023 Posted November 3, 2023 The fish don’t know it’s raining, as long as the wind is low, it will be fine. 1

riveRecon Posted November 3, 2023 Posted November 3, 2023 The Deckee app can give you on the water weather by hour so you’re prepared. The Deckee app heatmaps (Orange shaded areas on the map) can help you keep out of the busier boating areas. Have fun and hope you catch a few. 1 1
bessell1955 Posted November 3, 2023 Posted November 3, 2023 I wish you all the best with your fishing.
