The detail is awesome! This takes “local knowledge” to the next level! I have a sounder but it takes forever to scan large areas thoroughly, now I can plan the major marks and even discover some new spots I haven’t tried yet 😀. Any chance Deckee might let me upload my own sonar scans one day to help others?

I carry gloves, litter spike and a roll of garbage bags on every trip I do. I can’t enjoy a place that has litter everywhere so my routine is to clean it all up when I get there so I can enjoy the rest of my time. I sometimes wonder if my behaviour fuels the littering behaviour because they know someone else will clean it up. I go back regularly to the same spots and am always surprised I have to clean them again and again.

Thanks so much for the advice so far! My boat can drive on and off the trailer but the ramps I go to don’t allow it and there are no jetties beside the ramp which is a real pain. My boat is in my profile, 7.2m big tinnie. The boat is easy to handle. The trolling motor up front is what I use most of the time to “anchor” in deep water. Although I am eyeing those automatic deploy models. The electric winch is a definite upgrade, just trying to think of the right one. I saw a guy once with a vertical capstan winch up on the bow, he didn’t even need to get out of the boat, he just used the capstan to pull himself and boat onto the trailer. I can’t find any info though on how to or what power strength to setup. I’m thinking internally I’m going to need at least some more grab handles and such. I have a hydraulic assist on the tiller which makes that a breeze to handle. Getting in and out over the bow is tuff with no jetties though. Maybe I need an easy way to reverse up to the shore to get in and out. I’m thinking through some non skid stepping points too. Using ladders is starting to worry me, so thinking I should avoid those and think of other ways to get in and out.

I'm getting older and things don't seemed to be as easy as they used to be, that includes hooking up my boat and getting out on the water. It got me thinking, how do people adapt to getting older, maybe a disability, not feeling well, etc so they can still get out there and enjoy the water? It could be fishing, cruising, exploring, water sports and all the other reasons it's fun to get in a boat. I'm looking for ideas to make the experience easier. I personally love exploring, camping on my boat, and accidental fishing along the way. I feel it's time for some boat and trailer mods! Thanks in advance for any suggestions you have . I'll also keep this post updated with the mods I do.

Hey Zoran, yes I took it out of the boat for that very reason 😀. I'll try the Hydrogen Peroxide 3% the next time I have to clean them. Thanks for the suggestion!

Hi everyone, I have a lot of problems with mildew up here in the humidity of Queensland, especially on my boat flooring. The last two times cleaning my boat flooring has been hard work scrubbing and trialling different approaches and cleaning products. I've trolled the internet looking and trying all sorts of things to clean mold and mildew off my PVC/Vinyl flooring. My particular brand of tube flooring is Vynalite, I really like it. I finally landed on a way that is easy and has done the best job. The latest expensive option was a dedicated mold removal product, it worked well but cost $15 per bottle and I'd need to use three to four bottles for the whole boat floor. I tried bleach at $2 a bottle and it worked better than the dedicated product! I've tried bleach before from a spray bottle but did not get great results. All I did was apply full strength bleach to the tubing while on the concrete floor outside with a broom. I didn't do it inside of the boat because I was worried about the chemicals causing corrosion. I just lightly brushed with the broom so it would foam up across the whole flooring. I let it sit on the floor for whatever length of time was convenient with everything else going on - sometimes 30 minutes, sometimes the whole day. It took five to six applications over a couple of days of this process to get the results pictured. I didn't wash it off bewtween applications. I'm beyond happy with the result and the ease of cleaning it this way, I thought I was going to have to throw out the flooring and replace it with new. Pictures attached of before and after and the expensive mold remover and the bleach I last tried.

We have a total wave height calculation in the Deckee App to give you actual wave heights vs swell heights. We’ve worked with the BOM in Australia and NOAA in the United States on this first version. It gives you significant height but also rogue wave height. Rogue waves of that height happen on average three times a day. The functionality doesn’t take into account direction to the coast yet. Our testing is proving quite accurate for exposed waters though. Future upgrades will take into account direction, coast angle and wind direction. All the above advice is spot on, the Deckee App - Open Water Risk Forecast will help you put some meaning into wave height considering swell and wind. I hope that helps.

I have an Aluminium boat so might be a different experience. I agree with the sika 291 above. Works great at sealing and bonding jobs I have done around my casting deck. I have also used the grey gutter sealer/silicon along my gunnels which has lasted really well in the weather permanently for three years now. I use metho to clean and scrub first before applying the sealant. I hope that helps.
